Traditional Native American Colors The following list of color definitions is according to the Seneca tribe. Other Native American groups have their own beliefs and color meaning, which may differ. The Navajo culture believed that different colors represented the elements: East, white; South, blue; West, yellow, and North, black. Among the Zuni it was: East, yellow; West, blue; South, red; North, white and Center, all colors. The Cheyenne of the Plains used: East, red; South, yellow; West, white and North, black. |
