What Is A Dark Druid "Darkness" and "Black Magik" seemingly the same, but in reality they are far different. The Druids are not concerned with Black-White-Gray Magik. Balance is the most important concern. It doesn't matter what we do the Balance is going to right itself no matter what. Whether we meant to do good or harm, the Balance will extract its due one way or the other for the actual consequences. A "Dark Druid" by definition is a Druid that uses his/ her position to advantage. Druids were advisors to kings, nobles and peasants alike. To go against this sacred trust put into their hands was the worst thing a Druid could do. In history Cathbadh the Druid, was the most notable 'Dark Druid'. The 'Dark Druids' were and are, simply power-hungry advisors that step beyond the 'advisory role' into a position that resembles a status of leadership. Today's Dark Druids A Dark Druid in today's life would have to use their position or power in order to upset the Balance of a situation in such a way that the Druid would not suffer the backlash of the use of power. A Dark Druid would have to persuade people to do things that would further the Druids goals without letting the people doing these things gain much for themselves. Druids in many communities are looked up to for advice and leadership and in many cases this is still the role they play. It is not that there are no 'Nobles' in todays life, it is that there are Pagans out there that seek answers. An example of a Dark Druid comes from our Senior Druid - Mark. - Douglas Monroe. In the preface of his books he explains that he has never studied Druidry. He explains further that he had this all come to him in a 'vision' if I remember correctly. He then goes on to say that every Druid should go out and summon the "The Wild Hunt". He says that the deity you are invoking (he uses the word 'summon' I believe) will never be bigger than the summoner. He says that the reader/pracitoner of druidy should go along with what he calls "the Sport of Magicians". He is telling everyone that is reading his books that it is OK to invoke a deity and that that very same deity can easily be BEATEN.
- This is someone who is profiting off of the sale of every book purchased by a public unaware of his ideology. This makes him a Dark Druid, and is the primary reason why I will not recommend his book for anyone in their first year. I do however recommend the book for people in their later years only so that they can see what NOT to do.
