Meeting Faeries Meditation
Visualize, or think, of yourself standing before a great crystal door with silver hinges and handles. The door is divided down the middle into two leaves. The crystal itself is both milky and clear, revealing only indistinct images and colors behind it. Bright green ivy grows all around it, with strands hanging down over the door in places. Tall stems of blooming foxgloves stand like sentinels at each side of the doorway.
The two leaves of the door slowly start to open, giving you a clear view of a beautiful stretch of flowers backed by tall green trees. Near the grove of trees is a tiny stream bubbling over colorful rocks. Standing in the shadows of the trees are several human-size figures. These are the Fay, who wait to see how you react.
Small Folk are fluttering around the edges of the door, beckoning and calling for you to enter Faery Land. Several of them fly up to you, tugging at your hair and clothing, urging you to follow them.
You notice there are various sizes of the Small Folk, but none larger than about 6 inches tall. They are also dressed in different styles of clothes, some of which appears to be made of cobweb silk and flower petals, with tiny pieces of moss as decoration.
You enter and begin to wander along tiny paths among the flowers. Butterflies are feeding on the blossoms. Hummingbirds dart in and out of coral bells and trumpet vine flowers. Faeries fly close to you
some riding birds laughing. Two butterflies hover before your face, swiftly change into tiny faeries. They seem intent on showing you how they .can shape-shift into other forms.
As you look up at the shadowy grove of trees, you see several elegantly dressed faeries coming quickly toward you. They are mounted on very small white horses, their manes, decorated with bells and ribbons. These faeries introduce themselves as the kings and queens of the Small Folk. Each one wears a small crown and jewelry made of gemstones and silver or gold. The queens are in long silk dresses of different colors and a medieval-style cut, long mantles hanging from their shoulders .and down onto their horses. Their feet are clad in elegant dancing slippers. The kings wear shirts gathered at the wrists, doublets, and tight hose fitted into low boots. Small swords and daggers hang at their belts.
Courtiers surround them and watch you with interest.
The kings and queens introduce themselves and welcome you to Faery Land. They invite you to join one of their celebrations, assuring you that partaking of their food will not trap you in Faery Land. One queen raises her hand, in which she holds a small wand. The sun quickly sinks behind the mountains to the west, while a bright full moon rises in the west.
All the faeries gather together and lead you down another path until they reach a tall, wide mound of earth. When you reach the top, you see a huge circle of dark green grass edged with thousands of little mushrooms. Many faery thrones line the edge of this circle. The kings and queens sit on these thrones, while the courtiers lead away the white horses. The faery royalty invite you to sit on the grass beside them and enjoy the festivities.
Harpers and pipers dressed in various shades of forest green gather in the center of the circle along with faery maidens wearing long brightly colored dresses. As the harpers play their harps and the pipes their bagpipes, the maidens begin to sing wonderful faery songs. You find yourself caught up in the beauty of the singing and melodies.
While drummers join the other musicians, courtiers bring a nectar drink in goblets to everyone in the circle. Yours is larger than the others. As you carefully sip at the nectar, you find it is very pleasant. This is followed by bowls of wild strawberries and pieces faery cake coated in mushroom butter.
While you are enjoying this unexpected meal, the music begins again, only this time in a lively dance tune. Faeries begin dancing in the air all around the circle. They never cross its boundaries, even in flight, but twist and turn and glide as if they were on the finest dance floor.
Small faery children play on the dark green grass. around you with tiny white puppies that have red ears. Several small fluffy white cats with red tips on their tails stroll by, their silvery eyes watching everything.
Suddenly one of the queens waves her wand in your direction and you feel very light, as if you could fly. You think about dancing, in the air, and you find yourself floating upward to join the dancers. You twist, glide, and turn with joy as you dance with the Small Folk. You feel your life burdens lifting from your spirit and your heart filling with happiness.
Exhausted and thirsty, you float back to where you were sitting, smile your thanks to the queen who gave you the temporary ability to dance in the air, and drink from your gob let of nectar.
Several faery wizards come to talk to you. They answer many of your questions and ask you if you now believe in faeries. They promise to contact you in the future if you say Yes.
You notice that the full moon is almost to the western mountains and there is a soft glow of the rising sun in the east. One of the tall Fay comes out the forest and beckons to you.
You must be back through the gates before the cock crows;" he says.
You turn to find all the Small Folk gone from the green circle.
“Come,?the Fay says, as he touches your shoulder and points at the distant gate.
In the blink of an eye, you stand before the open gates and quickly pass through just as the sun floods the sky with light. The doorway behind you closes with a sigh and a click as if a lock has turned.
You immediately think of your physical body and find
Yourself back in your mediation chair. You are alert, feeling healthy and happy.
