Dragon Night Before Christmas Danielle Hulsopple Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the lair, Not a creature did stir, in the crisp winter air. The hatchlings were sleeping', all curled tail to head. With visions of plunder lightly outlined in red. The armor was hung, by the fire with care, Of knights who had dared to enter our lair. Ma' grumbling softly, and me glaring back, Had settled out side, for a short midnight snack. Then out in the valley, I heard such a clamor I readied a pounce, to catch the young whippersnapper. The snow shown like diamonds, witch I mistook it for, Reality struck when I saw 8 deer and more. A sleigh drug behind, filled with numerous things, Gifts of all sizes, toys, clothes, dolls and rings. A man atop the sleigh, winked with a smile. I wanted to eat him but went into denial. He was plump as a whale, but much kinder so, Swinging the sleigh, here and there, to and fro! He finally landed, close to me, to my shock, I really wished my door had a safe guarding lock. This was no slayer, I figured it so! But one look and a smile, lead me to know, This was Santa clause, The jolly old man! Who would give away gifts and I might shake his hand! He was wearing all red, if you hadn't guessed, Black boots, and green belt, Clean, without a mess! He came in the den and filled up the suits, Then he told jokes, he was quite a hoot! We gave him some coffee and a pre warmed blanket too, Then we talked Some more, for he wasn't through! After a while he had to go, To give more gifts, it was sad to see him go. He took of quickly, ready to see Children and hatchlings, and some more grups like me! He looked back cheerily, though 'twas the middle of the night "Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good knight!" |
