Get comfortable and take some cleansing breaths, in and out, through your nose. Focus on these cleansing breaths for a moment.
(30 second pause)
It is early morning, and the sun is not yet up. You are outside on a snow covered path in the woods. As you walk the path, you can hear the snow crunch under your feet. The air is cold, but crisp and refreshing.
As you continue on the path, you see that the trees up ahead end. As you pass the threshold of the woods, you approach a snow-covered drop off. This small cliff faces east, and is the perfect place to greet the morning Sun.
Take a seat on the cliff. As you sit down, the snow forms a perfectly comfortable impression around you.
As you are waiting for the Sun to rise, begin reflecting on this past season, spent mostly in darkness. Reflect on the time spent since fall, when the world around you began to appear dead and lifeless.
(2 minute pause)
As you are recalling these past weeks and months of short days and long nights, you notice that the morning Sun is beginning to peak above the horizon. Watch as it fully rises above the horizon, and its rays warm your face.
(1 minute pause)
Now that the Sun has risen, know that the days will once again begin to lengthen. Though there is still a considerable amount of time before spring comes, the knowledge that the Sun has made its return to dominate the sky fills you with hope for the coming season.
Focus on the warmth and light of the Sun for a moment. Know that with the rising of the Sun, a new cycle has begun.
(2 minute pause)
It is now ready to leave this cliff. Take a last look at the morning sun. Rise from your seat and follow your footprints in the snow back to the path in the woods.
Follow the path back to the place where you began your morning walk. Close your eyes and focus on your physical body.
When you are ready, open your eyes.
