Rainbow Meditation
The world we live in is full of color. It affects us on many levels. There is nothing quite as peaceful or full of beauty as a Rainbow. Quite often, they are surrounded by fog and stormy skies, but where they touch, they seem to transform to beauty.
A rainbow is a full spectrum of colors to work with. With each band offering a range of shades and values. Studies have shown that color affects us emotionally, so why not choose to have it affect us in a way that brings balance and beauty to our own path?!
For this meditation, we will use your sacred space, but you may need to "see" accommodations within your area at least for the duration of the meditation. You will need to have a comfortable lounge type chair to lay in, in your sacred space. For color purposes, we will use a black surface beneath you.
Before you begin, make certain your phone is turned off, lights are low enough to see if necessary, but not dark enough to encourage sleep. Wear non-constricting clothes and recline comfortably if possible. If you choose to use any type of aromatic accompaniments, make them as non-intrusive as possible. I find a forest blend seems to work best for this meditation, but what works for me, might not be the same thing that you would choose for yourself. Be sure to tailor this to your preferences before hand. Reading through the meditation a few times first is good as well, unless you have someone to read it for you.
Begin by taking a few deep, cleansing breaths. Breathe deep into your toes, leaving no corner untouched by the healing light of the universe. As you exhale, push from you the stresses and other negative energies in a dark stream that disappears as it leaves you. Relax your breathing to a comfortable rhythm.
Beginning with your toes, flex and relax each portion of your body, allowing the last dredges of tension to release completely. When you are ready, drop your cares into a wishing well, leaving them behind for the duration of this meditation. Make your way to your sacred space and when you are ready, relax in the lounge you prepared for earlier. Take a few more cleansing breaths to relax yourself before continuing.
Relax your mind. Allow your surroundings to fall away from you til all you see and feel is dark comfort surrounding you. Breathe in the calm and enjoy the absence of light for a little while.
Bring to your mind shades of red. Feel the color begin to grow around you. Red is passion. Red is anger, it is raging and strong. Feel the red deep in the center of your body, deep in your loins, bursting forth, from within. Bask in the strength of red for a while. Feel it stirring within you.
When you are ready, begin to change the red to a soft orange. Feel it emanate from just below your naval, bursting forth to fill the area around you. Orange is the color that stirs your creativity from within. Where your dreams are seated, waiting to be brought to your life. Feel different shades of orange as the light softly changes around you. Bask in the comfort of your creative dreams.
Tone down the orange, change it, feel it as it comes from your solar plexus region, bursting forth in rays of warm yellow light. Feel the stirrings of power in your power center. Where you draw forth the ability to survive from day to day. Fill yourself with balance, fill yourself with yellow, revel in it as it heals you from the inside out.
Relax your self. Stir the nurturing Earth Mother within, the center of your love gently pouring out from your heart center, touching you gently with green rays. When you are happy and your heart is open, nurturing yourself and others comes easily. Fill yourself with green light, allowing the shades to change at will. Feel your ability to love yourself and others grow. Release the darkened corners, filled with fear and mistrust, allow them to be consumed with the nurturing green rays. Become the loving being you are meant to become.
When the lights change again, they come from your throat chakra in shades of blue. Blue is your color of communication. How you express yourself, how you understand and relate to others. When your throat constricts, communication is broken and difficult to work through. Do you have difficulty speaking your true feelings? Do your words tend to hurt others? Are you hurt by the words of another? Healing can be found in the calming colors of blue. Soothe your emotions by bathing in blue. Fill yourself full, til you need no more; til your breath is heavy with blue. Feel your emotional reservoirs filling with healthy stores of renewed energy.
The light will change gradually once more, deepening, darkening to Indigo. Indigo stirs from within your third eye chakra, radiating gently, surrounding you completely. Feel your intuition stir within. Feel the Indigo fill you with trust for yourself. As you bathe in Indigo rays you remember that no one can make you feel better about yourself unless you love yourself first. Loving yourself is the first step to trusting yourself. Nurture your 'self' with this Indigo bath and remember that you are Incredible too.
When you are ready, the light will change once more, bringing forth violet rays from your crown. They shine so richly that they completely surround you, allowing you to bask fully at your leisure. This is your connection to the Divine. The Universe exists on many levels, I choose at times to see it as a Great Lake, full of the vast amounts of knowledge available. Tapping into this lake inspires and helps bring a certain fluidity to our endeavors. Violet stimulates the Divine within, protects and transforms us. Soak up as much of the Violet ray as you need.
Allow the Violet light to fade til you are once more surrounded by comfortable darkness. Feel the energy in your body, balanced and rejuvenated. Allow a bit of time for your mind to speculate. Relax and allow your thoughts to run freely. When you are finished, allow your sacred space to return to your mind. Remember that any time you are feeling down, you can return here and rejuvenate again.
When you are ready, return your mind to the present moment, alert and refreshed. You will remember all the details of this meditation so that you can write it in your journal. Pay attention to which colors you felt you needed most and least. They will give you information about yourself. Those you need more of can be worked on with energy from your personal strengths. Those being the ones you seem to have in abundance normally.
Remember to keep yourself well balanced.

You Know something? I have always dressed for my mood. Sometimes its bright and vibrant, sometimes its all black and occasionally all blue too! I married in burnt orange, and sometimes wear pastel shades ( though not often!) The only colour I never wear is grey!!! Its something I have done ALL my life! Its only after reading this, that I understand consciously, what I knew instinctively! Thanks for sharing! |
