Bathing in Waterfall Meditation
One of the toughest things to get past when meditating is the mental clutter. This is a very short meditation that can benefit you in many ways. This meditation exercise can precede other meditations to help you focus your mind and eliminate mental babbles that detract from our meditative experiences.
As with any meditation, before you begin, insure that you will remain uninterrupted for a set period of time. That includes turning off the phone ringer and the t.v. Soft music works well (non-verbal preferably) to mask sounds you cannot control. Make sure the music is relaxing but not so much so that you'll go to sleep. Sit in a softly lit, comfortable place where you can remain unrestricted for the duration of this exercise. Read through it a few times first to get a feel for what you'll be doing, then proceed with the meditation. You can also read it out loud and tape it to help take the "work of remembering" out of it while actually performing the exercise.
Take a few deep, cleansing breaths to relax your body. Using visualization, see your breath release from your body in dark streams, carrying all negativity and stress along with it. As you breathe in, see the white or golden glow of love from the universe entering into your body, flooding you entirely with positive energy. Allow this glow to fill you until you relax fully. When you are ready, proceed.
Beginning with your toes, clench and relax each portion of your body, till you have released any remaining tension left in your body. When you reach the crown of your head, breathe deeply three more times before proceeding.
Before proceeding to your sacred space, picture a wishing well. Place all of your worries and distractions into this well. Include the worry about them being there. For the duration of this meditation, nothing else matters. You are taking a mental vacation and you deserve it. Proceed to your sacred space when you are worry free and spend a bit of time just enjoying the peace in your space. When you are ready, step beyond the boundaries of your sacred space into a large garden. For as far as your eyes can see, there are trees and flowers, animals, sky, grass and all the breathtaking beauty of creation itself. Absorb the immensity of this space and know that you are a part of this scene as well. Take some time to enjoy your garden. If you haven't done so in the past, attach this garden to your sacred space somehow, mentally, knowing that it is yours now. Your "mental vacation land" if you will. You are safe here, always safe. Here you can grow things for your 'self' that will flourish in the physical world.
I present the garden idea to you, but you will create it the way your heart desires. I will add elements, but they will be created the way you desire them to be too. Enjoy this space, and honour it, for here you are the center of attention. Here is the honesty of creation, not so much the results. Here is a growing ground for all your hopes and dreams, and a safe haven from the horrors that pursue you. This world requires no money to move about, only your trust in your 'self' and a desire to be more than a mere mortal human. There is no one here to laugh, there is no one here to hate. Only that which you want here will grow. But like anything else, you have to work at it a little. The "work" here is just a "seeing" expedition. You want to see it, you see it. Period. Better than a mental blackboard, for you are a part of this picture. Relax and enjoy the garden a bit, breathe deeply and freely, merging yourself into your garden of peace.
One of the paths through your garden leads to a huge waterfall. It is powerful and full of life. It pounds down into a beautiful river that flows far out of sight. There are plenty of rocks to sit on to watch the waterfall, and there is also a path that leads down into the water, right up to where you can be under the water as it falls freely down. The spray of water generates a fine mist, the water is the perfect temperature for you to enjoy. The water isn't deep, you have no trouble negotiating your way to be in the path of the waterfall to enjoy the power as it pounds down on your head, filling you with energy. Enjoy the water as it flows down, you can move about easily and enjoy this waterfall. Feel it wash away the worries that you've held about your 'self' in the past. Feel it push away the doubts that serve no purpose in helping you. Fill the spaces that remain with the powerful energy surrounding you. The waterfall alone, generates enough energy to invigorate and refresh you.
You are as pure as the water surrounding you. You are not what others say you are. You are not what others think you are. You are the primal creative force. Everything you do affects those around you in many ways. The hello you say to someone on a street may make the difference between a smile and frown tone to their day. You are creating every day of your life. You are creating either love or hatred. That choice is yours. Just remember that the bottom line here is, what you create, you reap. As you enjoy your waterfall bath, and are cleansing yourself of that which weighs you down, remember to allow your prejudices to flow out of you as well. See them surrounded in a violet light as they leave, transforming to a more loving energy before returning to their original source. Feel better about yourself as you feel better about others. Enjoy this waterfall for as long as you like, and when you leave, remember to take your "better" self with you.
Return to your sacred space and relax a bit. Allow your self some time for contemplation. Think about creation and what it is you are creating in your world. When you are ready to return to an alert state of mind, take a few deep breaths first. You will remember everything you have experienced in this meditation, but now you choose to return to the present moment to record it in your journal as an ever-present reminder to Love All!
As you walk away from this meditation, it is my hope that you will walk towards a world where you are creating more love every day. For your 'self' as well as for others.
