Dd is 11, and her mother had either schizophrenia or bipolar or bipolar/schizo affective disorder. Whatever it was she suffered from halucinations. Dd is very upset, as she is seeing ornaments, like the elephant lift it's trunk, a lady ornament move her arms, etc. I have a problem because I do believe in ghosts, and fairies, etc., but I have an obligation to make sure that I am not misleading my children. My son suffers from this as well. Is she having halucinations or is it spirit oriented? Please, any feedback would be appreciated. |

MM, Candy! I have bipolar disorder w/schizo effictive disorder...My life was hell, before I went on meds. I 'saw' things that wernt there for most of my life-I just thought everybody else saw what I did. I am sencing this is NOT paranormal. And, I DO believe in the paranormal! Bipolar disorder does run in families...Period. My son and daughter both have effects of this disorder...not to the effect that it runs their lives like it did mine. Get her to a good psych. It took 4 years before I was "normal" whatever that is! This is a difficult disorder, so be ready to be in it for the long haul. Goddess be with you all! Love & Light, Becky |

Thank you. My son and I were just talking this evening, and he said that was how his illness began. I remember my other dd talking about the characters in the paintings moving around. I have always known in my gut that this was going to be apart of my youngest dd's life. She's also quite irritable today, and she is on mood stabilizers. I went ahead today and explained brain chemistry to her, and how if it is out-of-whack it can cause this type of hallucinations. A couple of weeks ago she saw fairies flying around. I did see one, myself, as did another dd, so we felt that was ok. We've been blessed to have caught some fairy pics on the camera, to validate that in the past. I still can't find the darn pics, to put on the board. I've been so afraid of misleading my family, with my interest in the paranormal. Thank you for your feedback. |

Hey, Maeve! Isn't it wierd that once you ARE diagnosed, you take a huge sigh of relief? Because then, you have a name to put to all this crazyness, and it actually has a treatment??? I just broke down crying when my psych. told me there was hope! Up till then, I just believed what everyone called me...crazy! Thank Goddess for modern medicine! Love, Becky |

Have you watched the new TV series "Eli Stone"? My son identifies with this. In that story, the star has a brain aneruism (sp), and because of where it is located, he sees hallucinations. I'll never forget my son getting so upset because there was a gnome sitting at the kitchen table, or a pteradayctl (sp) swooping at him in the living room. We tried out best to understand, but lets just say that the next morning we had moved our garden gnome onto the table, and there was a plastic pteradayctl in his bed. Humour helps. I wish people could comprehend that "mental" is really a physical condition. |

The brain is a very physical organ--and to know what is wrong with one's self or one's loved ones is a relief. My uncle Karl was bi-polar, my uncle Mike was bi-polar with schizo-affective disorder (but I don't think that his diagnosis was correct, at all--because he was in a serious auto accident in 1967 that left him with a severe brain injury--and TBI was often misdiagnosed in that era of our recent history--even now there is still little known about it), and my daughter thinks she is bi-polar, and has displayed symptoms characteristic of the disorder, and has for a while--since she was about 12 or 13. I think having a sense of humor when dealing with life is great--it lightens the tension, and helps keep balance. |
