I have always been a believer in portion control
in our eating. It is not so much what we eat, but
how much we eat. An article in Prevention speaks
to this.
The article stated that a study of 39 women found
a flaw in the theory that eating plenty of food
early in the day will help avoid the hungries at
night.
All the women were given the same breakfast. At
lunch their meals ranged from 1250 calories to
1750 calories. The heavier version featured
larger portions and full fat cheese.
The women who ate the high calorie version of
lunch ate just as much as the lower version women
ate at their night meal.
The bottom line was that portion control was
important for all meals. We still should eat the
bulk of our calories during the early part of the
day, however, to give our bodies time to use up
those calories.
We will try to share some Thanksgiving recipes in
the next couple of weeks to help with that very
heavy eating day coming soon for many in the U.S.
