Weave a Wand of Lovely Lavender!!!
What a lovely way to keep your home and your spirit in balance....
Materials for One Wand:
34 sprigs of fresh lavender (12 to 14 inches long)
6 inches strong thread or string
2 yards 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch of ribbon or hemp string or jute.
..now...
Strip off most of the lower leaves from each sprig. Save and dry for other uses.
Bunch the sprigs together and using the strong thread tie the bunch just below the flower heads.
Next, gently bend the stems back over the flower heads, incasing them in a kind of a"cage"
Secure the stems on the bottom of cage with string.
Beginning at the top, and leaving a little bit of ribbon (hemp or jute(whatever you use to weave your lavender wand) sticking out, start to weave the ribbon over and under the stems, two stems at a time. Use a long-eyed needle or put some clear nail polish on the end of ribbon to make weaving easier.
Continue weaving until " cage " covers all blossoms.
Then wrap the ribbon (or whatever you have chosen to weave with) around the stems in a spiral effect. Tie off at end of stems.
.....
This is an old fashion thing that my grandmother did....and I guess why her home was such a Peaceful place to be....these little instructions from grandmother didn't leave any spell words...or incantations...just alittle heart drawn on the paper........Love I am sure is what she means.
...and another little note...that was jotted down on the same page ... weaveing is to symbolize the bringing together of disparate elements and making them one... so you could use this as magickal wand....too.... *magick happens*
Blessings
