The French could not have put any great pressure on the Americans they were in no position to enforce their claims. Much of the land they claimed was still occupied by the British until the treaty of 1783 as signed.
The French was aggrieved that the Americans had signed a separate peace, after promising in the treaty of Feb 6 1778.
You have me a little confused. The Russians did far more to win WW2 than the US. In fact the British had more men in the field in 1944. Regarding Paris, the city was liberated by the 2nd French Armoured Divisions under Leclerk. The city had been declared an open city by the Germans after pressure from the resistance. No American in sight.
The US efforts in 1944 was not very impressive as the majority of the fighting in Normandy was carried out by British commonwealth troops So much so that Panzer Myer the commander on the German Panzer army said simply if we had attacked the Americans like we attacked the British we would have driven them into the sea.
In Operation Anvil the much vaunted landing in the south was led by British Paratroops and SASS most of the towns and cities supposedly liberated by The US were in fact liberated by the Marquis trained, armed and led by British SOE operatives
You must remember that US did not join the war in Europe voluntarily, they waited until Hitler declared war on the USA
I think your remark about American 'boys' pales into insignificant compared to the losses by the French people in WW1, WW2, Indo China, and Algeria
By the Way I'm British.
