From a Confederate Site.

Today the United States is fast becoming two countries. One side is becoming more socialist with its control of the means and ways of production, the subordination of the individual to the state, and a large and intrusive central government that takes more of our freedoms, our wealth, and property to redistribute to those groups and individuals that the government deems worthy of or to "right" past "wrongs".

The other side is those Americans who still believe in capitalism and personal profit, limited government, and the representative republic that the founding fathers gave us. Socialism and republican self-government, both a political and economic issue, cannot exist in the same place and the same time and sooner or later the issue will have to be decided. The Confederacy Project advocates a peaceful secession of the United States to avoid a revolution with each side going its own way.

The question actually comes down to this: do you, as an individual, want to live as a free citizen in a free country or as a subject in a socialistic or fascist society?

Do you want to build your personal wealth and pay less taxes to a government that performs only those powers and duties that We The People allow them to do through the Constitution? Or do you want to become nothing more than a cash cow for a government that levies progressive taxes to "redistribute" income from whom the government considers to be "rich" to those who consider to be "poor" and supporting government programs that benefits certain "protected classes" of people?

Do you want to keep your God given rights of property ownership and raising your children as you see fit without control or interference from the state? Or do you want the state to mandate how you can control or use your property and how to raise or educate your children?

Do you believe in equal justice under law or laws such as "hate crimes" that gives special rights to perceived victims if they meet some kind of government classification making them "more equal" than other people like the liberals do and NAZIs did?

I feel we are at the point that the United States and its political institutions are too sick to fix; too many people have traded their freedoms for security and welfare from the state. Not security in the form of protection from foreign enemies and terrorists but in the form of handouts and special group privileges legislated by the main political parties in exchange for votes.

Walter Williams wrote in a recent column that Americans fed up with the way the government and American society is heading should simply move to a couple of adjourning States like Texas and Louisiana and take over the State governments by lawful means through the ballot box. When the citizens have a majority there they simply declare a Declaration of Independence and leave the Union. I have always thought that this could be accomplished bloodlessly and on friendly terms just as Dr Williams wrote. I also think that the socialist/fascists and their fellow travelers and other useful idiots would secretly welcome this to get rid of all the troublemakers who stand in their dream to create a new and better communistic society.

Memories are very short about the German submarines' "happy time" (Paukenschleg/Drumbeat) off the Gulf Coast ports in early 1942  because
  1. most harbours were still illuminated
  2. you did not sail in convoy.
  3. you did not exercise radio silence.
  4. your destroyers were mainly in NY.

All contrary to British advice

lend lease loans were cleared by Blair/Browns' gold payments a few years ago.

BTW did you collect from Russia?

Kahu
Mainly banter but the Maoris built the Pas; quite formidable defences.

T-Dog, have you asked your pal Tiger for permission to address me direct?
And no comment about Paukenschleg, where you Admiral King told your forces to ignore our advice?

Response to Operation Drumbeat

At the start of US involvement in World War II, King decided not to request blackouts on the U.S. eastern seaboard and not to convoy ships. His critics attribute these decisions to King's Anglophobia, as the convoys and seaboard blackouts were British proposals, and he was loath to have his much-beloved U.S. Navy adopt any ideas from the Royal Navy. He also refused, until March 1942, the loan of British convoy escorts when the USN had only a handful of suitable vessels.

You boys need to get a different record. While I was at the Confederate site this is all they talked about....guess it hasn't sunk in that we tried this already and it didn't work. If you want to start your own country, fine, but go somewhere else and do it. Don't involve Texas in your hair-brained plans cause if we were ever going to leave the Union we'd go back to being a Republic and all you TSSRA boys can go to hell.
