Jen, great pics.  I have always enjoyed the old dynastic Egypt.  I even once did a paper on the growth and history of Egypt, and how it was attributal to the Nile river.  The fertile river allowed them to free up manpower to jump into other avenues of research and study instead of usin' damn near all of the people for the growin' and production of food.  Then I think I even went further to explain to self appologists Americans, how that slavery was a commidity that Africa enjoyed then and even now.  So no need to think that the US and Europe was the evil that unleashed it upon the world.
Anyhow I digress, but must say great pics and a great era to chose as a topic of discussion.

In grade school, in history class they teach you all about how Americans enslaved Africans and about how terrible it was. But the teachers and textbooks don't mentions is that a lot of the slaves were already enslaved. In a lot of cases they went to one set of masters to another and maybe their lot improved. Don't get me wrong, slavery is horrible and I wish freedom for all. However school books imply that Americans started it all. Horse sh*t.

MODERN STUDIES SUGGEST THAT THE PYRAMID BUILDERS WEREN'T SLAVES AFTER ALL.
SLAVERY WAS VERY COMMON THOUGH OUT THE WORLD.
MOST COUNTRIES LIKE BRITAIN/CANADA ETC MADE IT ILLEGAL AFTER 1800. IN THE STATES IT CARRIED ON UNTIL 1865.
MANY OF THE EMPIRE LOYALISTS BROUGHT THEIR SLAVES WITH THEM WHEN THEY WERE FORCED OUT OF THE STATES AND MOVED TO CANADA.

Owing and sell humans is great.  There is a lot of money to be made there.  But some humans just can not keep up.  Their need for substance out weights their ability to produce.  It then becomes an unnesssary drain of resources upon those that can keep up.  Do not poor money, time and resources into something just on the throught that it is the lack of resources that has cause the non-producers to be non-producers.  The non-producers are allways non-producers because it is easy to ask for something from those that have produced than it is to produce by ones self.   Reward the producers and allow nature to take it course upon the non-producers.

Jenny, some of us can make linguistic errors. But the facts behind them are irrefutable. You will find Sunny's use of language has the accuracy of a fer-de-lance. And its venom.
Mark on the other hand is the site marshmallow and needs to be verbally caressed. English, you see.

BTW
I respect your interpretation of the ethics of slavery.
As I mentioned, I studied the history of the slave trade as part of my 'O' Level (16 yr old qualification) exams. I enjoyed the subject no end, but I am sure nowadays my masters would have been sacked for political incorrectness. I was a schoolboy in the West Indies at the time.
