You may or may not of heard about the letter the Senate Maority Leader wrote to Rush Limbough, the conservative talk show host on ABC.  He, Rush, is a bit hard to take but ocassionally it gets funny.  In an earlier broadcast Rush called one particuliar soldier by name a "PHONY SOLDIER".  The soldier hadn't gotten out of basic training yet and he was bad mouthing the troops as murders and rapist in Iraq and Afganastan.  Yet he hadn't gotten out of the country or been in any combat situations.

Harry Reid writes a letter complaining that Rush had called all of our troops PHONY. The letter is signed by Read Durban, Boxer Schummer and ohers. Rush takes the letter tpEbay and auctions it and he will match watever the letter gets and give the proceeds to charity.  Read wants Rush sensorded and punished.???????
They take in was $ 2,100,100 .  Reed now wants to take credit for raising the money.  Daaa!
With all the coverage on this story is Read nuts?  The other bigger question will the press run the story, the whole story?

A politico stuffing his foot in his mouth and then trying to claim credit for a new dance.  Business as usual.

BIGSNOWBIRD1 -

Have to agree here.  Rush (I'm no fan of this moron) did NOT mean to suggest all soldiers fighting in Iraq were phony.  Both sides like to jump on any mis-speak but seem equally willing to twist the words someone says completely about to take a jab.

Honor an integrity seem to have little place in politics.   It's sad when it's more important how ones says something than what he/she means when it's been said.

Hawk Reed's letter is on line.  Rush had it up on his sight you may want to read it and the signitures.
I thought the letter was a huge embarasment to the left, but the papers would have had to print it for that to happen.  Now the papers, as you must admit, are anti Bush and have invested so much in making sure the next president is a demacrat they are not going to print anything anti liberal or Bush positive.  They might loose a vote.

Just another smear attack on Rush, without any semblance of truth in it.

But then, that is the only way to side with the Leftist Liars on this issue, because actually discussing the details, quickly reveals that Harry Reid simply regurgitated the lies of Media Matters (another Soros/Clinton propaganda apparatus, which regularly attempts to convert true history into some grotesque monster that seeks to make the Clintons look like the best thing that happened to this country, since the Declaration of Independence).

Contrary to the MM-Reid lies, Rush did not call all anti-war veterans “phony soldiers.?

He uttered those two words in response to and in agreement with a caller, who was talking about Jesse MacBeth, nee Jesse al-Zaid, who had been used as evidence, by anti-war groups as an Iraq war veteran who had witnessed atrocities.

But, they had lied.  The truth was that Jesse MacBeth was a boot camp washout.

Rush had a lengthy narrative about MacBeth on his program the day before, in response to a news item (the day before that) on prime time television about “Phony Soldiers.?There had been others, besides MacBeth, who had falsely presented themselves as veterans, most likely for the purpose of acquiring public admiration-----totally undeserved admiration and glory. MacBeth was one of those phony soldiers.

Rush was making reference to those specific phony soldiers, that both he and the major TV media had covered, just two days before.

Harry Reid was quick to jump on the usual hate-Rush bandwagon.  Par-for-the-course, Reid made no attempt to verify the alleged "facts" that MM had twisted completely out of context.

Nope, Reid saw it as another opportunity to get back at Rush, for all the true things that Rush had to say about the Dems in the Senate and about Reid in particular, especially for Rush's constantly pointing out that Reid and his ilk refused to, or were slow to clearly condemn MoveOn.org’s New York Times ad, which had accused General Petraeus of being a traitor, a Bush puppet, among other disgusting allegations.

Reid wrote that petition letter then tried and to get other members of Congress to sign it.  The letter demanded that Rush “apologize?for something he never said.  It was very revealing that only Democrats agreed to sign that disgusting piece of Leftist Lies.

By that action Reid and those who signed that letter of lies, endorsed the constant lies of Media Matters and their regular and deliberate distortions of historical truth.  That was bad enuf, but they were also trying to use the power of the Govt to shut down political speech-----to confiscate the First Amendment rights being exercised every day by those in the media who dared to criticize Senator Reid and his cohorts----those Senators who seem to be undercutting our gallant troops in the field, every chance they get.

Trying to short-circuit the First Amendment, trying to impose "standards" for political speech (something Wesley Clark advocated).  That is what the Reid letter tried to do.  It was a despicable exercise in attempted tyranny.

And, they have the temerity to call GWB a dictator!

Snowbird, isn't Schumer the big anti-gun advocate in New York?  I heard his name on the news about a month ago, I think, in connection with some questionable tactics regarding gun control.

Sunday Re 10 Schumer,  or as he is reffered to in this househod as Chuckey Cheese Schumer the senior senator from NY.
He has a news confrence every Sunday because it's a slow news day and the press need stories.  Usually boreing.  He is anti guns and most everything else.  He is pro illegal immigration defunding the war in Iraq and anything else that will make the administration look bad.  If he were honest he would let everyone know he is really a socialist calling himself a Demacrat was a vehicle to get elected.
