It's a sad, desperate, heartrending struggle.  I'm sure that many if not most of the arms came out of the USA and in particular leJuene.  Whether the arms thieves were just after money or were sympathizers is of little consequence.  If not there then arms of some sort would have come from somewhere else.

What to do?  Beats me, and I think it beats everyone that sees it from the outside.  From the inside, of course, it is simple - kill them all.

My personal opinion is that the situation there is very much like the Israeli-Palestine struggle - it will never ever stop until one or the other of them is completely dead.  Not just driven out, but dead.

Do you know what was the end result of this investigation at the Military base?

The problem with arms from the US was that all the money to keep the IRA in business came from the US so they could go to Gaddaffy to buy them.

But most of them came from the US and were smuggled with the blessing of people in high places. When Clinton got into power he stopped it and the terrorists asked for a truce.

The truce is holding and with the exception of the really hard liners urged on by suedo Irish in the US, it will not start a again.

Do you know no Artillery, mortars or aircraft were used through out the whole affair.

PS As regard to the investigation you tell me.

I beg to differ Arnie. Home made mortars, usually mounted on a truck bed or in a van, were a regular feature of IRA attacks. In fact, the attack on 10 Downing Street was by way of a mortar. And Redneck, they don't all need to die. As Arnie has said, we've had a ceasefire for a long time now. All it took was the assurance that both sides would get to share power. After all, they both represented citzens of the UK. It's working and looks as if it will go on working, desite the joyless b*****s on Ian Paisley's side.

Your right about Home made mortars, The IRA had some remarkable success with them but fortunately the had more home goals than success. I did mean however mortars in a tactical sence used by the security forces.

PS Paisley and his Orange men are hoping that the next election in the UK is a tight one and once again they can hold the balance of power and hopefully get their own way again.
