I think that most people over this side of the Pond now believe that information produced by the US Army is usually far from the truth. Are the people of the USA finally coming to terms with the fact that their army lies to them.

The Senate investigation commitee have found that  Jessica Lynch rescue was a tissue of lies and that senior people both in the army and in the Pentagon have consistently lied abou the death of Cpl Tilsley.

It also appears now that the much publicized tracking and killing of the Taliban leader Mullah Dadullah by US Special Forces, was actually carried out by the Royal Marines SBS.

Mark, that's a wonderful thing you're doing.  You've mention the Jervis family mausoleum on the message boards before and the mystery you solved there.  I hope you're relating that to the tourists as well.

Mark
You are not doing a wonderful thing.
You are arousing T-Dog's envy by being a pervert. State subsidised.

When I read " The mausoleum was a big hit as it's rarely opened and people, especially kids, are fascinated by coffins that have been lying untouched for 150 years or more."

You are going for a paedophiliac /necrophiliac orgy. And then you end with the raunchy unrepentant
"Doing it again tomorrow for four hours."

Tell us by the way, do you and the kids connect before or after the coffins?

Sunday should sack you. She's too niaive.

I DON'T KNOW FLASH.  HE MENTIONED AS SUNDAY SAID IN AN EARLIER POST THAT HE WAS HANGING OUT WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE AND THAT THEY WERE MOVING OR CHECKING OUT COFFINS OF SOME DUDE AND THIS FAMILY.
I ASKED HIM IF THEY HAD CHECKED THE POCKETS OF THE PEOPLE TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANYTHING IN THEIR POCKETS OR CLOTHING THAT MAY BE OF HISTORICAL VALUE. THINGS SUCH AS OLD COINS ETC.
HE TOLD ME TO GET ON MY BIKE?? I DON'T OWN A BIKE.

It's best not to touch the coffins as I'm terrified they might collapse and the bones spill out. The one I'm most worried about is the Viscountess St Vincent who has had another coffin on top of her since 1855, one of these days it'll collapse under the weight.
It got a bit tricky when four little kids crawled into an empty niche to have their photograph taken, not quite the thing to do in a mausoleum.

Mark,
This is Mesa Verde National Park located in the four corners area of the American West. People were living in those cliff houses from 600 A.D. to 1300 A.D. That's quite a while back and it ain't in the east either . I've been ther, it's a great hike to get to it and interesting as hell to walk thru it.

Point taken, but sites like that are not widespread. Over here no-one is more than a few miles away from some historical site dating back hundreds of years, although most aren't aware of it.

I'm about a mile from Colchester castle, 60 BC. AD Parvenus like you and Mark don't get a look-in over here. You're just tsalking about an ethnic minority social housing problem.
Peter.

I visited there once too, TinCan.  It is beautiful.  We have many places all across the U.S.A. to visit.  America is very big.

It does look a fascinating place. Aren't there others in which the only access is up a rope ladder ?

THERE ARE MANY PLACES OF GREAT BEAUTY IN AMERICA BUT ONE CAN NOT SEE MANY OF THEM UNLESS THEY ARE WILLING TO DO A LOT OF TRAVELLING. THE COUNTRY IS JUST TOO VAST TO SEE IN ONE HOLIDAY. TO FLY BETWEEN PLACES WOULD COST A FORTUNE AND TO DRIVE SEEMS TO TAKE FOREVER.
ENGLAND IS MUCH SMALLER AND EVERY CORNER SEEMS TO HAVE A PLACE OF INTEREST. EUROPE IS MUCH THE SAME.
