Our Prime Minister Gordon Brown only has one eye (or rather two eyes, only one of which is "working"), he lost the sight in the other following a rugby injury when he was a teenager.

Normal

It is not unusual to find soldiers with one eye especially officers Apart from the world wars when standards slipped few men got into the british Army with one eye. I have met several with only one eye I have met some with one arm and in one case a sergeant with only one leg, lost in Korea.

Dyan, Stauffenberg, Wavell,  and Harrison all lost their eyes on active service. I lost most of my vision in my right  through an accident whilst out training. For the rest of my service I fired from the left shoulder, and used binocu;lars upside down.
