Reading everyone's memories this morning made me very emotional and brought back a flood of memories of my mother and my grannie. One of the best ones is of my grannie - Lord, that woman could cook! But she was "best" when she was baking something sweet. One Sunday she was expecting all her kids and grandkids for Sunday dinner so she cooked a feast (as usual), and even a homemade apple pie because it was my cousin's favorite desert. Well, the pie looked just beautiful! My cousin - he was about six at the time - took the first piece. After one bite he started spitting!!! Didn't take us long to figure out why. When mixing her ingredients, Grannie reached for the cinnamon - and got the black pepper instead. The cans were very similar and right next to each other in her pantry! We all had a good laugh about it, but we never let her forget it either! God, I miss her.

T, I'll have to think of some more. I'm sure with the holidays just around the corner, my memories of happy days at Grannie and Papaw's house will resurface - they always do. And btw, she DID have glasses! She was just so busy talking to her family (most of the womenfolk would be in the kitchen with her) that she didn't pay attention to what she was doing!
