Flowers for my mommy! At long last, the moment I had been daydreaming about since my 8th birthday was finally here! But why am I so sad? I put on my bravest game face and try to hold back the tears. With a suitcase, full of my meager belongings and a heart bursting with golden dreams, I wave goodbye to my mom and bellow “I’ll call you when I get to Houston!” (for this next sentence, insert a, b or c) 10, in your opinion, which of the following sentences do you think readers would connect with more? A, B OR C and why? (A) Little did I know, that it would be the last time I’d ever see her alive! (B) If only I had known that, that would be the last time I’d ever see her alive, I would have… (well, I don’t know what I would have done exactly. What could anyone have done? Her number was up. Her time had come. Don’t mean to sound insensitive, but this is how my analytical mind works and keeps me from turning into an emotional wreck.) (C) Little did I realize that I was about to become an orphan! |

My guess would be (A) Reason? Most of us as children have been left with a nanny or sent to Grammaws while a parent or relative was slowly, or quickly dieing. It happened to me with my Grandfather in MI. My parents left me and my brother with neighbors, and went to see him after a stroke. When they returned, he was buried, estate sold, and nothing, not one keepsake was kept for me to remember him by. They told us when they returned, he had died, and 6 years later we went to see his grave, which to this day, I don't know where it is, or what became of that old cigar box he kept change in to pay the paper boy. He only lived 6 hours away, and they didn't send for us to go to the funeral. I cried at the news, and was sternly scolded for being "weak". (A) final answer. |

Sorry bout the blabbering. I still harbour just a smidgeon of animosity. |

But you must blabber on when the spirit moves you. I don't know why they say grown men don't cry! Thanks for the input! -t- |

I wave goodbye to my mom and bellow “I’ll call you when I get to Houston!” (for this next sentence, insert a, b or c) -t-, I think A is the best choice. I wave goodbye to my mom and bellow -t-, I am not a writer but when I saw this part, at first I thought it said below. Now, I see it says bellow. IMO, the word bellow doesn't fit. I see what the meaning is but maybe a simple word like "say" would be better. That's just my opinion. Again, I am not a writer so this is my opinion. Jet |

That brought back some memories, too. When my mom died, I kept thinking (well, I still do actually) about the last time I saw her alive and if I had only known that would be the last time... |
