Evening all (why do I feel like I should be bending at the knees, hands clasped behind my back and saying it three times?)
I spent most of the daylight hours of Thursday, sitting on a dining room chair, in the window of my living room.............(ah, brings back memories of when I used to sit in the window when I worked the Red Light District of Amsterdam
)..............it was a dull old day, actually, it was overcast most of the day, and raining most of the day too, so the light was not too god - but - the blasted furry bag is finished!!!
(Pause for applause).
I learned several things that day.
1. Never, ever, ever again, try to sew fur, fake or otherwise.
2. Buy a buggy snuggle next time!!!
3. I hate sewing
4. The reason why they attach the fronts of these bags, by zip and not velcro.
Sewing velcro is horrible, fortunately, the machine was able to do the velcro on the front cover, however, as the back/seat is twice as thick, THAT had to be done by hand, and my hands are so sore!! I used a thimble to push the damn needle through, but it was the pulling it through that hurt.
I hate it of course, but Barbara loved it.
She fitted it immediately, and when it came time to walk into town (about a mile and a half), Hayden seemed to love being in his black bag, mind you, I think he thought it was my cat Sid. We did find that the bag is too long, but I did do it to their measurements.............I am pretty sure I got the conversion right, but all we did was fold it under at the footplate of the pushchair, and secure each side with bulldog clips.............when I am in Scotland I think I will get two kilt pins to take the place of the bulldog clips.
Hayden must have been warm and comfortable because he slept all the time we were out, and I have to admit, he did look snug, and when we got home and he woke and we lifted him out, he was warm and toasty.
But it was a buggar to make, and I will NOT be going into production LOL.
My machine is still cowering at the back of the kitchen cupboard anyway - and I managed to break the blasted needle.
Other than that, well, printer is still playing up - even though DH says he has now put Epson inks in, but fortunately I managed to get all the letters printed off and most of them posted, which reminds me,
*****Thank you Lesley****
Your card arrived today - the postman had to deliver it standing on his head, well he had to be able to read it didn't he
I have Hayden's toys in the toybox, and all wrapped up as one huge present, and I have a cardboard box with lots of little pressies for Barbara and Jon, inside it, they are all wrapped and labelled, and the cardboard box is ready to wrap up, hopefully before we go to Scotland on Tuesday - I just need to get a large diary for Barbara, she expressed a wish for one whilst we were mooching around the shops. But I need to try to get it bought and wrapped, and then the box wrapped and addressed to Barbara and Jon. before we leave because I know she will go mooching around otherwise.
There is a little video of Hayden playing the guitar - as ever, I am waiting for Barbara to send these things to me so that I can share with all of you, but Jon was sat on the sofa with Hayden, and he was playing the guitar - then Hayden began reaching for it, so Jon did the chords and let Hayden strum - not bad at all!!
My friend Stephen tried to help me copy pictures across from my msn groups, he used his wife's ID to go into my family group, and he saw for himself, the problems, because his machine is faster than mine, it only took 30 seconds from clicking a thumbnail to a picture appearing on the screen, whereas it takes me 45...........so he said he would see what he could do.
He phoned me back later to say he had found a dodgey copy of a programme that says it will copy your pictures from msn groups, to, I presume, your computer, he said it cost $10, which he said was to buy the programme, but he had found a way of getting it for free. So he did all the pictures from my family group and put them onto disc for me.
Well I have almost finished getting all the pictures from my storage group, into photobucket, so thought that would be it...................sadly, no..............the programme has only copied some pictures from each album, from my family group, and I don't have the heart to tell Stephen, because he thought he was doing me a favour, and for me to tell him it was not really much help, would be like a slap in the face, so I bent the truth slightly, I emailed him tonight to thank him. I said that I have been off the computer for the last couple of days - sewing a fur bag LOL - and have only just put the disc on to check it - that was all true, but I said that from what I have seen so far, the pictures are normal size (he was worried they would be thumbnail size)................
So, the fight is still on to get my pictures from my family site, off, before msn kicks us out. Until I find a home to open the group up again, I will store them in photobucket and give the password to those who shared the group before.
Tommye - snow? Wow.
Apparently it blanketed the north of England here, where we used to live in North Yorkshire, but then, it always did, however, Scotland was not hit as much as they expected...............you know why - they are waiting for me to get there next week so that I can make deformed snow angels
LJ - yes, I did notice the red hair LOL - I will say no more except......be thankful she does not live in England - we are not liked here
