I sang this song as part of a school choir at school. When I was pregnant I sang this song to my unborn children. I still remember the look on my newborn daughter's face right after her birth. She was wailing away. To calm her down I started singing the song I had sung to her for 9 months. Her eyes flew open and she calmed right down. Here it is:
Today
(New Christy Minstrels - Randy Sparks)
Today while the blossoms still cling to the vines
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wines.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joys that are mine today.
Well I'll be a dandy and I'll be a rover
You'll know who I am by the songs that I sing.
I'll feast at your table, I'll sleep in your clover
Who cares what tomorrow may bring?
Today while the blossoms...
I can't be contented with yesterday's glory
I can't live on promises winter to spring.
Today is my moment and now is my story
I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing.
Today while the blossoms...
