new member names are only visible (at the what's new page) for members (that are logged in) i don't know of a possibily to hide them it's the same with member profiles, they will only show to other members a visitor cannot look up the profile and therefor also cannot get the e-mail addy so i think therefor in a small group like ours when you know all the members it is not too bad when they show on the profile it's tje big groups that do not know who they are letting in that have to be alert that no spammers and addy collectors get in there |

I see it still streched the table farther than the setting I think we should just start from scratch and make a new one I don't want it wider than the allotted space so the whole page is visible without scrolling back and forth. I mean all the existing part of the What's New page as well as what we add. I want it all to fit in the screen like the link I posted above. Q |

deleted some of the messages here .... about the addresses showing, i typed this message in answer to your request to hide them, but decided it's better to place it here hi Shyly rest assured the address on your member profile is only visible to other members of this group not to the public, they can only see the boards that are public, and the pages, so if you don't post your address there, it's OK as we are just a small group, and we know every member that is in here the only thing is that when new members come in that we don't know and all they want is to collect addresses to spam, they can do that within the week you give them to post before deleting ... so to avoid that risk it's good to have the rule of the address not showing on the profile thought i'd let you know (again) so you don't have to worry to much about the addresses still showing, but it's ok to ask them to hide them Mar |

Thanks for the back up Mar yeah I knew the addys couldn't be seen by outsiders, but i was wondering how some other sites managed to have them not show on the whats new page. I just thought if there was a way, you'd know what that was. Q |

you mean sites where you are a member and logged in? didn't know we had that option, can't find it in managertools or group settings maybe it's another kind of site, there are also msn sites, different from groups, although they look very much like the groups, but they have a different lay-out, like the moneycentral site. maybe that's the ones that also have this option cause they also do not have the side menu showing but you are in several group help sites, maybe you can find the answer there i am also curious to know how some groups have a page (link) in the side menu, that is locked for outsiders and only accessible for members. well, i've been surfing too long already, gad my lunch, it's almost 2 so i better hurry to get my mail done, before it starts to rain again by the way, have some new pics of me and my niece |
