Having trouble thinking in eco-friendly terms when your qi’s (“chi’s? out of whack?
The Bite:

The 3,000-year old Chinese practice of feng shui (say it “fung shway? teaches us to decorate and arrange our homes in ways that enhance our own personal energies and help green the Earth by tapping into natural sources of light and inspiration.

The Benefits

  • Lighten up! Lots of windows bring favorable chi into your home, and harnessing natural light and heat saves on energy bills.
  • Less clutter. Most of us wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time. Donate what you don’t need to charitable foundations , and feel the positive energy flow through your newly neat closets. Now for the hard part: keeping them neat?
  • Mood-enhancing, oxygen-boosting indoor foliage is an easy path to feng shui. Green plants reflect balance, while round-leafed plants bring good fortune.

Personally Speaking

Heather took a course on fung shui in the garden (every garden needs a dragon - where is yours?) last year and put it into practice on her roof this year. She’ll let you know if her tomatoes are bigger later in the season.
