  The Medicine Wheel Meditation

Find yourself standing in the middle of a circle that has been traced into the earth, a place that represents the Great Mystery and the Source of Life, and let's honor the four directions of east, south, west and north from this center.

As you focus your attention on the first direction of the east, you recall the ancient symbolism found here of illumination, birth, the element of fire and the season of Spring. So let's take a moment to visualize the sun rising in the east, bringing this warm, solar energy to your personal sun, the solar plexus area, to connect with this direction and its mysteries.

When you're ready, let's transition to the next direction by putting our attention on the southeast, the field of ancestors for a moment. This is a place to honor all those who have gone before us. And now as we come upon the direction of the south, let's honor its powerful symbols of the emotions, the element of water and the season of Summer.

Imagine yourself now soaring and traveling on the winds as we transition to the direction of southwest, which is the field of your soul's intent and the sacred dream. This is the place to honor yourself, so let's take a moment in this awareness to experience yourself as a spiritual being, privileged to find physical manifestation and the human experience, and breathe in your soul's intent consciously, even if you are not sure what this is for you to create space for it to develop within you.

And acknowledging the direction of the west, and the passing season of autumn, let's honor this place of harvest on the wheel and the times we enjoy bounty and as we transition to the final horizon, we encounter the northwest direction of rules and laws. Take a moment to consider here what are the rules and laws in your life? What governs you? Who are your gods?

And now let's come into the fourth direction, north, which symbolizes wisdom, the mind, the element of air and the season of winter. This is a place based in the wisdom of the ages, and our own inner wisdom, the greatest of all guides. So let's explore the sensation of quiet, inner knowing and its many expressions like intuition, to open new paths in our lives through forgiveness, acceptance and non-judgment and feel the liberation from this new found source of energy within in, and allow this energy to resonate in your body, mind and spirit.

And as we take a moment to return to the center of the circle, let's offer our thanks to the Great Mystery and Source of Life, as we allow the qualities and energies that we have brought to resonate within us, so that we may bring them into our life vision with us, as we prepare to transition out of meditation feeling purified, centered and energized.
