A few days ago I got a book out of the library and in it I saw some lovely kitchen cupboard curtains and thought, " I can do that". I am a bit of a hoarder, never throw anything out, especially bits and pieces of old lace and material. Heres what I knocked up, I think the old lace really sets them off good, something a bit different anyway. Lots of Love Mary.xx |

They look really pretty Mary, the lace making them look so special. You have reminded me of my first kitchen some 40 years ago, which had a work surface with shelved beneath. It was all rather drab so I made up curtains in bright blue with a little red flower just as you have. Blue paint and "Contact"stuck down on the work surfaces made the kitchen look like new.....and all my washing was hand done. Those were the days. Liz. |

Very pretty they are too Mary, nice to ring the changes sometimes isn't it and I'll bet it's given your kitchen a whole different look? Anyone else get that feeling of satisfaction when a home made project turns out so well? Well the more we post here the more ideas we can pinch from each other, got to have something to keep us out of mischief in the coming dark months, thanks for showing us Mary. Hugs Bee |

Glad you all approve! Now the hall and stairs are nearly finished, carpet arriving next wednesday, we are going to start saving for a pot sink and wooden draining board!! Don't know how long that will take us, 'cos they are so expensive. But it's exciting!lolololol. Love Mary.xx |

Mary, get with the times - they're called Butler sinks now - and to think I used to be bathed in one when I was wee! A case of what the Butler saw!! And very smart it's gonna be too Barb Should I tell Mary I have 3 sat in my garden waiting to be turned into Alpine beds? Nah, maybe not! |

Jean, what a muddle!!lolol, lets hope it all works out in the end for you, very quickly!!lol. I have thought about doing it with tiles, but...., you know I am a very traditional old girl at heart, and want it to look as if it has been here for ever, if you know what I mean? I love the wooden draining boards, and when I feel as passionate about something I can't go for anything else, it would feel like second best, and I wouldn't like it! The only thing we have got towards it so for are some beautiful handmade bricks to make the supports for it to stand on!lolol, and we only have those because someone was kind enough to give them to us!lol. Lots of Love Mary.xxx |

Needless to say we didnt get the sink waste so i am trying to manage without a sink buckets for old tea,lol and other things which we take for granted just emptying down the plughole,at least the worktop has now been tiled completely,so will soon have a wee bit more room, and yes mary i do know what you mean,i wanted a belfast sink ,my friend said i have one round the yard if its any good you can have it....so the next time we went visiting we looked at the sink, only to find her hubby had used it in the barn to put the cows lick in,and some silly cow had put her foot in it and it was broken looking forward to getting my sink in as its hell trying to wash dishes.Am i the only person who doesn't have a dishwasher..!!!!! |

No Jean your not, I haven't got one either! People laugh at me when I tell them I love washing up! I do really! I stand at the sink and look out at my garden, work out what would look good here or there, day dream about all sorts of things while my old creaking fingers are in lovely hot soapy water!!lolol, feels great it does! I wouldn't have a dish washer if someone gave me one for free! I think washing up is very therapeutic, and satisfying, when it's all done and everything is nice and clean again! Love Mary.xxx |
