I went to Ottawa in September and went with my friend to the pottery studio. She does pottery (not on the wheel) and sells it and the proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research. She and a small group do all kinds of fund raising through the year at work which include soup days, bake sales, craft sales etc. She gave me a hunk of clay and NO instructions! This is what came of it. She fired it and glazed it and sent it to me. Unfortunately it lost a handle enroute. |

I agree with Mary that you definetely show a gift for pottery Wendy. It looks like an old victorian piece don't you think? I reckon it's a real winner for your very first time of trying so check around and see if there's pottery classes in your area? Hugs Bee |

I used to love to do this. My mother really was into all kinds of ceramics when I was younger. She made beautiful hand painted stuff. She painted beautiful wild flowers and took hours with the details.... I wanted to make something free hand and kept bugging her...Her friend owned kiln so she said..ok.. I made a nice looking horse...and was so excited to put it in the kiln...Well..I must have had an air bubble in it or something...It exploded in the kiln and not only wrecked my horse...but ruined all my mothers hard work...My free form days were over I am afraid..lol. It is lovely Wendy even minus the other handle, but you must have been disappointed. I tried it once years ago, but at the first lesson, watching others create something, while my piece of clay just looked a mess told me I was not cut out to be a potter and never went again. Liz. |
