R has decided to go to sewing classes with her sister so they have been searching for ideas as to what to do. She mentioned cross stitch to moi so I being a nice lad (most of the time) had a search for some websites on the subject and came across this one
Have also ordered her a programme from the Amazon site that will convert ure photos into a cross stitch pattern.
When it arrives I could be a liddle bit nawty and make some copies of it if anyone is interested. (who said that?) Wasn't me, honest.

Hello Blues, just thought I would tell you if R ever wants to borrow some of my books and patterns for her cross stitch she is more than welcome, I have hundreds of them.
Just let me know, ok?
I hope she enjoys doing cross stitch as much as I do!

Lots of Love Mary.xxx

I'll be interested to hear how R gets on with converting photos to patterns Blues. I downloaded a demo versio of Cross Stitch Professional from here:- downloads-zdnet.com a few months ago, but decided not to buy the full version as I will probably never use it enough to justify the cost......... I get sidetracked by other projects too easily lol.
The demo is pretty good fun to play with, but doesn't allow you to save anything you do, although you can print from it. (mind you I'm sure if you are determined enough you can fnd a way to save the files!)
The main thing that I found this freebie most useful for is it has a good library of motifs that I can use when I can't find the sort of thing I want in my book.

Hiyah Gilly, yes there are ways and means of beating the system. You can get to stage where you have the pattern on your screen after using that programme and then do a screen capture. You have to make sure you have what you are capturing at 100% or it wont print out correctly. I do this using Paint Shop Pro but I'm pretty sure the free Irvanvu prog has a facility to do it as well.
