It's that time of year when we are all getting ready to sow the first seeds of the year ( Yippee ) getting in the seed compost, cleaning the trays and making room on windowsills for those little pots of joy ! Anyway, here is my idea for making yourself some free plant labels from old tubs ( I use margarine but most white tubs have this potential ) The picture will explain more than I can. You can cut to any size you want but be careful to round off the edges ( can be sharp ) Most marker pens will work on them and so will pencil. Not glamourous but for trays of seeds and seedlings they work fine. And the money you save you can get another couple of packets of seeds from the bargain bin. Izi
I use an old plastic venitian blind.stripped it all down and have hundreds of the markers, lol.reminds me off our old vicar.he used to cut rings off old washing up bottles....the white part...and use them as dog collars..lololol
I am lucky ..I have a wonderful friend that gives my fancy ones for Christimas and my birthday....Bee gave me some really nice ones last year.. They are copper/brass looking with nice long stems on them.. A bit fancy for my mish mash garden. I do not plant may seeds but I use them to remember when some of my special plants are so I will not pull them up in the Spring..lol.
Good idea Izibeth, I did the same as Jean (Bumblebee) and cut up an old blind to use for markers. Really easy because they're just the right width and a pair of scissors does the job in no time. You'd have to live to a hundred or have a huge greenhouse to use the number one blind produces..lol
