My Keith has worked so hard to make this, and I think he has done a fantastic job of it, as he has never done anything like this before!!
The draining board is very old, and it was pretty disgusting when we found it, but 3 weeks of working on it, has turned it into a thing of great beauty! We were told it was about 100, to 150 yrs old, solid cherrywood, it came out of an old Welsh cottage that was about to fall down.

This was 2 weeks ago.

Last week!

This morning!!!

I am really over the moon with how it looks. clever old Keith eh???
Love Mary.xxxx

Gosh Mary, what a clever hubby you have!  It looks terrific.  I just love that wood - it's fabulous.  Definitely well worth the hard work restoring it.  I'd be frightened to put anything on it in case I made a mess of it!  You'll be spending a lot more time standing at the sink now, just admiring it, lol.

Luv Pansy

Hello Pansy, the draining board has been coated 3 times with Danish Oil, each time put plenty on and then wipe with a soft lint free cloth, dry for 4 hrs, then repeat, the last coat you use one of those green kitchen scourers, and rub like mad in with the grain, and it dries like glass, it is really hard, and waterproof, and doesn't need re-doing for 3 to 4 yrs!!!
Love Mary.xx

Belfast sinks are not really my cup of tea, but that looks absolutely the part in your kitchen the whole look is wonderful very homely and a great job of rescuing the draining board too, also I love the whole curtain thing you have going on
Well done

WOW!  What a kitchen...........it's like something from a magazine.  He is very clever, your husband, Keith.  Excellant workmanship, tell him. Can you send him round to me sometime, please? I have enough to keep him occupied for ages in my home!  Belle
