Abrasions
These occur when the top layers of skin have been scraped away as in a skinned knee. Wounds smaller than an inch in diameter can be treated at home; anything larger requires professional medical attention. With clean hands, gently clip the fur around the wound with electric clippers. Use warm water or saline to flush out the wound. Flush enough to remove all dirt and debris from the area. You can apply an antibiotic cream (Bacitracin) twice daily. If the wound becomes larger, produces purulent (pus) material or the animal is very uncomfortable, seek veterinary attention
