PEAR-DATE BARS

No need to peel the pear in the fruity filling of these easy bars.

Preparation time: 20 min   Baking time: 28 min
Yield: 16 bars

Filling Ingredients:
1   cup pitted whole dates, chopped
1   medium (3/4 cup) pear, chopped
1/3   cup orange juice
2   tablespoons sugar
2   teaspoons cornstarch
1/2   teaspoon ground allspice
1/2   cup chopped pecans

Crust Ingredients:
1 1/2   cups all-purpose flour
1/2   cup sugar
1/2   teaspoon baking powder
1/2   cup cold LAND O LAKES® Butter
1   egg

Drizzle Ingredients:
1/2   cup powdered sugar
1   tablespoon orange juice

Combine all filling ingredients except pecans in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil (2 to 3 minutes). Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in pecans.

Heat oven to 375°F. Combine flour, sugar and baking powder in large bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg. Reserve 3/4 cup crumb mixture.

Press remaining crumb mixture on bottom of ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Spread filling to within 1/4 inch of edge. Crumble reserved crumb mixture over filling. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.

Stir together all drizzle ingredients in small bowl. Drizzle over bars. Cut into bars.
