I sat up yesterday morning until tropical storm Ike rolled through my area here in western Arkansas with two scared cats lol. We had quite a bit of rain and some moderately high winds. Earlier, I was driving in it returning from some beer, nachos, bowling, and air hockey. The winds rocked my little Honda SUV side to side on it's suspension and I ran through some large puddles. No big deal really.

Luckily our area escaped any major damaged from winds, flooding, etc.. I'm amazed at the pics from Houston/Galveston. I'm really shocked at the damage as well as the low casualty count.

Sitting and listening to the storm gave me some odd impressions. Ike had become a tired phantom, blasting away with it's remaing energies. The storm had carried out it's sorrowful mission and was fading like an old ghost. It was like a haunting.... I've never had such a strong and strange feeling from a storm.

As soon as the storm was over, frogs began chirping simultaneously as if on cue. It was Nature's 'all's-clear' signal.....

It isn't every day that we get a hurricane over n.w. arkansas.

Wab,

Very true. The storms up in the Ozarks kinda feel like hurricanes sometimes though lol. I've been caught in a few of those driving to FS that were pretty damn scary. I guess it's all about being at higher elevations, right up inside the cloud activity in some cases.

Vork,

Thanks for your concern my friend. Ike didn't seem very dangerous here at all. The cats I was babysitting would probably disagree with me...
