Oopsie! I'm having a hard time seeing how this instrument could be truly worth a million bucks. Anyway, I think I'd have the thing being carried around veeeeery securely...umm...so that it didn't get dropped n' stuff.  --L.B.

Violinist: Fall fractures $1M fiddle

By THOMAS WAGNER, Associated Press Writer

LONDON - Can his fractured fiddle ?a million dollar Guadagnini ?be fixed? It's too early to tell.

David Garrett, a former model who has been called the David Beckham of the classical scene, said he tripped while carrying his 18th century violin as he was leaving London's Barbican Hall after a performance, smashing it to bits.

Darm!  That must have hurt!  Apparently the violin more than his body.  If a 1772 violin is glued back together, will it still sound as good?  Is it still worth a M$?  I don't know how insurance for these things work; but, I'd try to get the insurance to pay for another of equal value, and hang the busted one up on the wall.  Something to be remembered, so to speak.  A reminder.  A momento.  Just one more fiddle bites the dust.  Bless his gifted little heart, he could have broken an arm and never be able to play again.
