Gray and peaceful is the night,
Fields of white in bright moonlight.
Signs of footprints in the snow,
Inside a firelight softly glows.
Love and laughter, this we hear,
ah, for this we shed a tear.
Just one knock and they will know,
of one less footprint, in the snow.
