It is an over an hour into Beta shift and Captain Venger sits behind the desk in her ready room doing work.  Fatigue was hitting her harder than usual.  Even though a couple of days had passed since their time at N'torma,  she still had to catch up on some work, send out reports, and so the list goes on.
So much had to be done before they reached Melstrom tomorrow, and there she would have to be at her best.  Setting aside a PADD she said "Computer display all available information on  the people of Melstrom."  Going over the information again couldnt hurt after all...

After waiting for an hour, Dragon decides he's going to get out his own way.

Dragon jumps and hits the top of the turbo lift and it falls off to the side of the lift.  He jumps again and grabs the rims of the lift and pulls himself out.  He looks for the nearby emergency ladder and begins to climb for the nearest door in the shaft.

"Too bad I didnt have my personal transporter with me.  I wouldnt be sitting here climbing this ladder," Dragon says as he climbs the ladder.

He reaches the next door in the shaft after atleast ten minuets of climbing.  He stands on a small ledge large enough that he can stand on.  He tries to pry the door open and it budges atleast five inches.  He pulls the doors all the way open and steps into the cooridor.

He stands there panting and wonders what deck he is on.

"Computer, what deck am I on?"

"Deck 2," the computer responds.

He continues to stand there and catch his breath.

"Ensign, as soon as the prison ship jumps to warp, set course to Melstrom and engage at warp 5....  Also adjust the status to its normal level."

Captain Venger stood and walked to her ready room, leaving the bridge to the beta shift commander.  Sitting down she paused for a moment, but then quickly went to work on the mission reports

An hour latter she felt the ship jump into warp.  They are now back on course, back to the original purpose of being here.  The original mission... Would they still be able to make it succesful. The delegation had been holding back earlier, and then there was the response to the distress call...

She remained in her ready room for several more hours, and Delta Shift was now underway.  =/\= Captain, the Melstrom delegation is ready now ready to continue

Remembering their difficulty with the time schedule she responded =/\= Understood, have them meet me in the conference room.

She soon arrived, finding the delegation waiting for her, and began.....

Captain Venger sat back and watched the delegation depart from the room.  It was now 0700 hours, they had been in debate for nearly 7 hours.  At least some progress had been made.  The delegation, instead of being taken aback by the distress call, they had actually been impressed by the response and opened up more.

Slowly she got up and made her way to the turbolift to go to Sick Bay and check up on Scott and Anderson.  Finally entering Sick Bay, she walked over to the cmdr's biobeds.  Both had just awaken.

Smiling gently she said, "How are you feeling?"

"Well rested. The food's better than the last time I was in a sickbay. My hat's off to the cook." <pause for Anderson's response> "What we could use in here, are some old entertainment devices from Sony. I think they make holo-novels and equipment now. I had a couple of their old devices replicated when I was a kid, but I kinda... blew it up with my first chemistry set. My mom wanted me to be like Edison or something," Scott chuckles.

After catching his breath, Dragon begins to head for another turbolift.  He steps into it and the doors close behind him.

"Bridge," Dragon says.

The lift begins to move up for a second and the doors open to reviel the bridge.  He steps out and walks over to tactical to take his post.

"Sorry I'm late everyone.   The turbolift that I started in shut down on me right in between decks 2 and 3.  I got out of the lift and climbed upto deck two and caught another lift here to the bridge.  By the way, in ship communications seem to be down.  I tried for about an hour to get ahold of the bridge, but never got any reply," Dragon says as he stands at his post.  He looks at sensor scans and sees the Intrepid and the Xentar.  This starts another new day on the ship.

"I'm glad you are feeling well, but I have something better in mind for you than some entertainment devices." Her eyes gently swept the room, but quikly returned their gaze back at the commanders.  "How would you both like it if I arranged for you to be transferred to your quarters?"

"Of course, it still may be awhile before either of you can be able to return to duty but you both would certainly be a lot more comfortable...."

"That would be a nice change..." He smiled. "But I still want a raise. And an extra vacation day."

"How about we start with this, and then see where it goes from here," said Captain Venger.

A moment latter Doctor Knox arrived in Sick Bay, apparently eager to check on the progress of most of her patients.  Her timing was perfect and the captain made her way to talk to her.

"Doctor," Savanna turned away from a patient and looked at her, "I've noticed that Commander's Anderson and Scott are doing quite well....  I believe it would be a good idea to have them both moved to their quarters.  It would certainly make things easier for you and the staff, and I'm sure the commanders's would find it much easier to rest and be comfortable.
I would of course make certain they did not return to duty until you advised, or have them do anything to stressful until they are back to good health."

Littlefeather soon grew bored of staying in his quarters, and quickly replicated himself a new uniform. Othello, sensing his new owner's want to venture around the ship quickly stopped lounging and strode mewling over to the dressing human. "I hear you Othello..." Was John's only reply to the cat. "Well then..." John got up and patted him self and adusted the top of his uniform, then fixed his Ensign insignia to his collar. "Let's go." He strode out of his quarters with the cat following him, He took the turbolift to the bridge, just to see what was going on, and if  Lt. Commander Scott was on his feet. He didn't see anyone that he knew, except a nice looking red-haired crewman he knew from lunches past...But other than that, this was a docile ship. He walked over to the ops station, which was being watched over by a Bajoran crewman. After a quick exchange of words mostly consisting of: "Aye sir", and the ever likeable: "Ok, sir." John smiled inwardly thinking: Back on the Reliant the Crewmen/Women were never this nice....Heck, even 1st or 2nd year Crewmen didn't even listen to me....It must be the food here....

OOC: I ment nice looking red haired Crew woman..... But, anyway...

Littlefeather relived the Bajoran Crewman from his post...and sat down at ops station. Looking down he noticed that Othello had climbed into his lap and was lounging, purring all the while. "Well, to work for me..." John said relaxing in the chair and starting to work, he ran diagnostic checks, he scanned for other things such as anomalies or other ships in the area...Nothing interesting...He even had to find a lost cat for a crewman...He found it in the mess hall...licking the tables. Other than that he just worked...He checked the computer for bugs in any of the systems, Nothing. He looked at the replication systems, Nominal...He patted his cat's back, enjoyed by both....Nothing seemed amiss. So he wrote out a report, Everything was normal, the sensors could be a bit faster...but normal. He soon got up and carried Othello to their quarters, rather satisfied that he could do two jobs on 4 Hours sleep...

in shuttle bay 2 Borguard just finished the outer hull repair. jumps from the roof of the Faraday. "ok that's done. now lets see what needs to be fixed inside." enters the Faraday and heads over to the console and starts to work.
3 hours goes by and he finished. "there done....he said with relief. turns and sees the bomb little made for him during the mission. thinks of some ideas of how to get rid of it. but all of them would get him in trouble.
=/\= Borguard to Bridge, i got a bomb Littlefeather made for me during last mission how do you want me to get rid of it?

Littlefeather returned to the bridge after dropping his cat off at "Home". He soon heard the communication from Borguard:
=/\= Borguard to Bridge, i got a bomb Littlefeather made for me during last mission how do you want me to get rid of it? Littlefeather rushed over to Ops station and opened a line to the perplexed Lieutenant =/\= Hello, Lieutenant sir. This is Littlefeather, We can jettison the device into space...or we can just load it into the Torpedo launchers for use later. And I think the Captian would like it for later.

=/\= alright i'll shove it in a torpedo launcher for now. it might come in handy if we run into a warbird.
grabs the bomb and disables it. then he heads to a tubrolift. steps inside and says "deck 13" the turbolift moves and soon arrives at deck 13. he steps out and heads for Forward Torp Laucher. walks up to the door and steps inside. goes to one of the launchers. opens it and puts the bomb inside. walks out and heads for a turbolift. steps inside and says "shuttle bay 2" the turbolift moves and arrives. he steps out and heads for the his tigershark.

Captain Venger left sick bay, glad to know that Dr. Knox had agreed to move Commander's Anderson and Scott to their quarters.  Although, at first seeming against such a move, had come to agree with her:  it was probably just easier than arguing with the captain.

Making her way to the turbolift, she realized just how long she had gone without sleep.  It brought back memories of her Academy days; all the nights spent with friends or studies.... The doors opening took her back to the present, and the fact that there was still no time to rest, she had to work to do.

_____________________________________________

It was two more days before the Intrepid could break orbit from Melstrom and return to the normal routine.  It would also appear that the Federation would get a new ally soon.  There would latter be one more meeting with some of the top Federation delegates to make things official, which was a mere formality.

Captain Venger walked out of the transporter room after just seeing the delegation off.  The past few days had been full of their own surprizes and challanges:  with the delegation, the distress call...  and the Romulans.  There was still so much more to find out over these next coming days.

Well, at least i wont have to work alpha shift, that job belongs to Lt Commander Evans, she thought as she entered the turbo lift.  But, there was still one last duty for her to preform, one of the worst granted to the commanding officer of any vessel or station.

Entering a room, she gazed out at the faces of almost all the crew members that served on board the Intrepid, and then fixed her gaze to the five caskets in front of her:

"These five crewmembers that lie here today, have each given their lives in the most honorable way possible; in the defense of our ship and in the fight for the continuation of our way of life.

Over everything that has happened in the past few days I'm sure that none of us have really had time to mourn, to think about the loss of Ensign Arkell, Ensign Traford, Lieutenant Odell, Lt Commander Sarevok, or Crewman T'lea.  The  days to come... Im sure will be the hardest yet for us to deal with.

Each of them will be missed, and each day we will live honoring their memory.  Even though we may not remember them everyday, as im sure the memory of how they were will one day begin to fade, each one of us will honor that memory  in preserving the ideas they died in saving.

Today we all pay tribute to their lives... and now we will have a moment of silence in the memory of these five dedicated officers,"

During the moment of silence the caskets are sent into space.  After the final casket is sent off, the Captain lowers her head slightly, then turns around, and leaves to signify the end of the moment of silence.

The crew had certainly changed much over the time she had commanded it, now was no exception.  When they arrived at Atlantis, Lt Jg Decal would be leaving them, and coming aboard would be several other new officers.  One thing she would always be certain of is that no matter who her officers were, they would always prove themselves to be the best and most dedicated officers in the fleet...
