On July 1st Canadians don their toques and good parkas, and emerge from their igloos to travel many 'clicks' across the tundra on their ski-doos to gather together in celebration of Canada's birthday. After stopping for a 'double-double', they arrive at the rink (where all important events in Canada are held) and a formal greeting of 'Hey, you Hoser' is met with the traditional response of 'For sure, eh'.
Traditional Canada Day activities include: trying to 'deke out' the 'Mounties' if they show up to confiscate your 'two-four', town elders reciting ancient incantations from Don Messer's Jubilee and Stompin' Tom Connors, and young men hunting for beaver. The celebration typically includes a large feast where vast quantities of poutine, back bacon and, of course, beer are consumed.
