I just voted, yes I think they are cruel. I'm surprised that only 10 percent of the votes feel that way. Too bad people are still so barbaric. |

We went to the Calgary Stampdee twice a few years ago and we enjoyed it, with hubby and our son who loved the bullriding and chuck wagon races. I did see a few injured horses which I did not enjoy seeing happen They were immediately looked after. Thousands seem to enjoy these events. I would say great attention should be taken that these animals are treated fairly ...no shock devices and stricker rules to enforce the safety of the animals. Guess I am barbaric because I would go again. I love animals as much as anyone and have always had pets. |

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then. I wasn't calling anyone in particular barbaric, I just don't like seeing animals exploited for humans, gain. |

I voted. I'm not sure if it's cruelty or just exploiting animals for enjoyment or making money. It's hard to get the upper hand of a bull. Personally, I don't care for "sports" that have animals attack each other. |

I'm a bit two faced on this one, lol. I have been to a couple of the bigger rodeos, and for the most part, thoroughly enjoyed myself. BUT, I didn't like the calf roping type stuff one bit. Went for a stroll during those events. There are so many other "non pain inducing" events that are great fun to watch. Barrel racing is quite something. The Chuck Wagon races can be a hoot, lol. My personal favourite is actually watching the Clowns jump into action when a rider gets into trouble. More guts than brains? lol. Anyway, I stared at that voting page for several minutes before I finally voted. It's a loaded question, in my opinion. Sure, I want them to stop the "cruel" parts, like shocking or cinching the horses so they'll buck, but do I think they should stop Rodeos completely? No. |
