In 1490, two struggling artists,
Albrecht Durer and Albert, his
brother, agreed that one would
work full-time to support them while the other studied.

So Albrecht studied while Albert worked, with the understanding
that when Albrecht became successful, he'd return the favour.    After attaining enormous success, Albrecht went back to honour their agreement,
only to discover the terrible price his brother Albert had paid.

By engaging in hard  manual labour, his fingers had become stiff and twisted, and he could no longer paint.   But instead of becoming jealous and bitter, Albert encouraged Albrecht and prayed for his continued success.

In fact, one day while Albert was prayin Albrecht quietly sketched his brother's gnarled, misshapen hands.   Today his masterpiece,
"The Praying Hands," Tell a story of love, sacrifice, and power of
Encouragement!!

The Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle

The Wedge-Tailed eagle is an impressive sight soaring above the vast Australian Outback.  Aquila audax (meaning bold eagle) covers an impressive range from the snow covered peaks of the Snowy Mountains and the southern island of Tasmania to sun roasted plains of the vast interior.  Quoting one source of reference the "wedgie" (as the bird is affectionately known) the bird is the fourth largest in the world's eagle family, with a wing span of 3 metres, and weighing between 2.5 and     4 Kg (5.5 to 8.8 lbs).  The spectacular bird is capable of prodigious feats of strength, such as killing prey of twice its weight and size and carrying almost its own bodyweight.  Standard equipment for the wedge-tail are wings that allow it to soar for endless hours over the hot interior and dive at its pray at speeds of 100kph (70mph) and eyes five to six times as powerful as a human's, and claws that clamp with a three tonne force.   With their commanding eaerial ability the bird can skim the canyon floors or soar to heights beyond 6000 feet.

Is 41:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shal run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)

Via Delorosa

ART-GB002_400pixels_3d.jpg

Down the Via dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed to see
A Man condemned to die on Calvery

He was bleeding from a beating - there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Via Delorosa, called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah Christ the King
But He cose to walk that road
out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorasa  all the way to Calvary

The Blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Make its way through the heart of Jerusalem

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa all the way to Calvary
********
(Words & Music by Billy Sprague and Niles Borop)
Original recording by Sandi Patty-1983

This is a beautiful song.
The Graphic is an oil painting of the Via Dolorsa as it is today, but note the  Artist has painted a silhouette of a man carrying a cross as a shadow on one of the walls .... and if you look a little closer you can see the nail scared hands of Our Precious Saviour.

And O, My God When I in Awesome Wonder,
Consider all the works Thy Hands, have made,
I see the Stars, I hear the rolling Thunder,
Thy Pow'r throughout the Universe displayed.

Chorus:
       Then Sings my Soul, My Saviour God toThee;
How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!
Then Sing my Soul, My Saviour God to Thee;
How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wonder,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain granduer,
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle Breeze

Chorus.

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus.

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what Joy shall fill my heart,
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, My God, How Great Thou Art.

AMEN.
