My wife and I watch these two shows, and they usually consist of some pretty standard forumlas:

Les Stroud (Survivor Man) ends up totally fucking up whatever he's trying to do, even going so far as sleeping off most of the day and ten being up at night cold and freezing.
Bear Grylls (Man Vs Wild) eats something gross and is like a one man Survivor marathon.
Both giving you pretty good tips throughout the series.

The basic premise of both are simple: Spending a week in a remote area in the world that no couch potato like us will ever really be. Bear always tries to make it to civilization within seven days, whilst Les tries to simply survive until his safety team extracts him. Bear has a camera crew with him, while Les films everything himself, all alone, and often times has to backtrack and pick up his gear and replace it for another shot.

Bear Grylls has also been accused of "cheating", which I didn't hear about during the original incident, but I've read a bit about it now: spending the nights in hotels, wearing special diving gear, etc.

Anyone else watch these, have an opinion?

Survivor Man is a pretty kewl show. I enjoy it except for like there's hardly ever a new episode when I watch. I've seen the one of him in the jungle runnin from a jaguar like 15 times. Never seen the other guy other than when people accused him of faking it and shit. And so what if he didn't actually stay out there or whatever? I don't see the people accusing him gettin in a hurry ta show how easily they could do it
