Our school OT made this for Kira to use at school. It is similar to the concept of the "How Does Your Engine Run" program.
We are hoping to help Kira learn to be aware of her body and give her ways to self-regulate when needed.
The rough concept is as follows:
Slow = When you are feeling sluggish, tired, unmotivated
Medium = When you are ready to work, play, learn
Fast = When you are feeling hyper, not listening
Throughout the day her aide and teachers ask her how her brain is feeling and she will give them an answer (usually she says medium) then the adult will tell her (based on the way she is behaving etc) "I think your brain is "_______" and offer her choices of sensory activities (like a movement activity if she is slow or a calming activity if she is fast) and then ask her again how her brain is feeling. With the goal to get her back to Medium when she is slow or fast.
