Just a bit about us:)

My dh and I have 2 grown children, a daughter age 31 and a son age 28 who is married and has 2 little girls:)

Just when we thought we were done we became parents again to a 2 3/4 yr old and a 9 month old who at the time were our granddaughters.  They are now our daughters and although a long journey I wouldn't change it for the world!!!

Courtney is 9 yrs old and is NT, however she suffers PTSD from the past abuse (our oldest dd's bf almost killed her).  She has done amazingly well and is going into the 4th grade this fall.

Sara is 7 yrs old now and is dx'd with SID and possible OCD (OK she isn't officially dx'd with OCD but she is, we just try and keep it under control).  She is entering the first grade in the fall.  We put her in Young 5's the year she "could have gone to kindergarten" as she wasn't ready no matter what the readiness testing said.  Academically she is up toward the top of her class but socially and coordinations wise she is at the lower end.  She has come such a long ways and is a affectionate and loving child (with those she trusts).

Every caseworker we dealt with asked if we realized that even though no professional would dx her at a young age, that she had "issues".  We were and just accepted Sara for being Sara:)  Even the adoption worker who only saw her 2 times asked us after meeting her.  I simply told her that was why I was not working as the girls well being was top on our list of priorities.

Oh my dh is Jim and he always wanted 4 kids, but did say he thought they would be a bit closer together!!  I always wanted 2 girls to grow up together and here I am with 2 that drive me nuts with their fighting one minute and then amaze me the next by how close they are!!!

Mary
