Magickal Attributes of Feathers

The magickal qualities of feathers are determined by their colour (and sometimes from the birds from which they fell).  It's always best to use found feathers as opposed to purchased feathers.  Walks in parks, or in zoos, can provide a wealth of materials.  If you keep birds, you have an even more reliable supply.

Scott Cunningham and David Harrington have compiled a list of the magickal attributes of feathers mostly from European folk magick sources, and it differs from that of colour symbolism in general.  Pauline Campanelli has created as slightly different list of properties from her own experience.  Both of their correspondence are provided below and you can experiment and discover your own connections to see what works best for you.
