Crêpes With Orange Sauce

Ingredients
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup Butter Flavor CRISCO All-Vegetable Shortening
1 Tbsp grated orange rind
1/4 cup orange juice
1 Tbsp apple juice*
Crêpes
Powdered sugar
Directions
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a small heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Pour orange sauce into medium skillet, and place over low heat. Dip crêpes in mixture, one at a time, turning to coat. Fold each crêpe in half; fold in half again. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve immediately.
* Water may be substituted.

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk
2 large eggs
2 Tbsp CRISCO Vegetable Oil
CRISCO No Stick Cooking Spray
Directions
- Whisk together first 6 ingredients in a medium bowl. Cover and chill 1 hour.
- Coat a 6" nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place skillet over medium heat until hot. Pour 2 Tbsp batter into the skillet, and quickly tilt in all directions so that batter covers bottom of skillet.
- Cook 30 to 60 seconds or until crêpe can be shaken loose from skillet. Turn crêpe, and cook about 30 seconds. Repeat with remaining batter. Stack crêpes between sheets of wax paper until ready to use.
Additional Information
Crêpes may be made ahead of time and stacked between sheets of wax paper at least one day prior to serving. Completely seal them in an airtight plastic container or a zip-top plastic bag, and store in refrigerator until ready to dip into the orange sauce.
