Christmas Candy Pudding

<AGL:CONTAINER>This is a very old candy recipe.
</AGL:CONTAINER>Ingredients
3 cups sugar
1 cup light cream
1 heaping tablespoon butter
1 pound dates, ground
1 pound dried figs, ground
1 pound raisins, ground
1 pound flaked coconut
1 to 2 cups ground walnuts or pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
Cook sugar, light cream and butter to soft ball stage. Beat until creamy. Beat in dates, figs, raisins, coconut and walnuts. Add vanilla. Stir well. Knead with hands until well mixed. Roll as for meat loaf. Wrap in damp cloth and then in waxed paper. Let ripen for 2 weeks. Slice and cut into squares to serve.
