Creating A Dream Amulet

Taken from “Dream Magick? by Sirona Knight

People traditionally wore amulets as protective charms. They were also hung in the home and used to repel or drive away harmful energies. You can create your own amethyst dream amulet to use for protection while you sleep and dream. Amulets made of gemstones such as amethyst, have always been valued very highly. Amethyst has a reputation for its protective, healing, and spiritual powers. When worn during sleep or placed under your pillow, it will protect you with its powers to bring meaningful dreams. The best time for creating this amulet is on Midsummer’s Eve or on a Full Moon.

Items Needed:

        • Small piece of tumbled amethyst
        • Cedar incense
        • 1 purple candle
        • 1 white candle
        • 1 blue candle
        • Pen or inscribing tool
        • Lavender oil

The Spell:

Wash the candles in cool saltwater, dry them, and place them on your altar with the other items.

Cast your circle, envisioning a lavender or purple light, and call in your dream guardians.

Light the incense, dedicating it to Nodens, the Celtic God of healing sleep and dreams.

With your pen, inscribe the words DREAM PROTECTION on each candle, and then dress them by rubbing a thin film of lavender oil on them. Place the candles on your altar in a triangular configuration.

Rub 3 drops of lavender oil on the amethyst , and then position the stone in the middle of the triangle. After wiping the oil off your hands, light each candle, dedicating each one to Nodens.

Face your altar and focus all your attention on the amethyst. Imagine everything that means protection to you (i.e. a locked door, a favorite God/Goddess, etc.).

Now, pick up the stone and, while holding it between the palms of your hands, use deep rhythmic breathing to send your thoughts of protection into the amethyst. Chant 3 times the following:

Nodens, bestow upon this stone,

The power to repel all negativity,

Protect my dreams so they may be free.

Hear me now, so mote it be!

Place the stone back on the altar, in the center of the candle triangle, and clap your hands 3 times. Put the stone inside your pillowcase and allow the candles to burn down completely while you drift off to sleep.

In the morning, pull up your circle and release your dream guardians. Keep your dream amulet in your pillow case, putting 3 drops of lavender oil on it once a week to reinforce its protective powers.
