Moon: 11 Freeze Up Moon
Day: 18
What Shadow?
Just as physical shadows grow shorter as Granfather Sun climbs to the noon sky, so do our shadowy natures recede when we embrace the light, as well as the lightness of spirit we carry.
The more clarity and understanding we bring into our consciousness, the fewer telltale shadows of regret, seriousness, and self-abusive behavior we may have following us. It is easy for us to justify our behavior and say,"What shadow?" That response is usually dictated by our need to ignore any need for growth or improvement. Old habits die hard. Old ways of thinking bear the marks of conditioning. Old fears plague every moment, thwarting our potential for delightful growth.
If we discover our personal desires for change, we have accessed the sunlight needed to examine what no longer works in our behalf. Positive change is the tailgate of the desire to better our lives. The tailgate swings open behind us and knocks the shadow to its knees.
Walks Tall Woman, the Clan Mother of the Eleventh Moon Cycle, shows us the comic relief we can access through our willingness to break the changs of stagnation. Are you daring or irreverent enough to stand tall, knocking regret, seriousness, and self-abusive behavior to their knees? Start by using your lightness of spirit, laughing at any thought that insists that you should punish yourself for being wildly irreverent!
