Shamanism is an ancient spiritual system dating back over 50,000 years. This tradition forms the roots of all healing and spiritual models. We can all trace our shamanic ancestry back through time, whether it be through Celtic, European, American or Aboriginal origins.
A Shaman is an individual who can through various techniques such as drumming, dancing and dreaming to change their sate of consciousness and journey outside time, or ordinary reality, to the non ordinary realms of magic and mystery. The Shaman travels beyond the "matrix" of ordinary reality to contact the spirit world to seek healing, knowledge and power to help the individual and the community.
The Shaman uses ecstatic techniques to enter the shamanic state of consciousness (SSC) travel out of the body, make contact with spirit guides and power animals and therefore effect changes in ordinary reality. Working closely with nature and the elemental forces is also a very important aspect of the Shaman's role.
Shamanic practice and techniques helps reconnect us to ourselves, each other and to the great mystery that we are all an integral part of the whole.
