MoonGate Energy

The Virgo Moon is a great time for analysis, especially if you are writing material that works in steps (I call how-to prose flow chart writing). While working on things around the house I began to contemplate how I will design a seminar for my new book ?MindLight. I’ll be appearing at Moonbeams in a Jar in Pennsylvania ?a totally great store ?on October 7th ?and presenting the new seminar there along with a revised Angels seminar.

Since my camera decided to take a vacation without me as a last ditch effort to teach me about the Jupiter/Neptune square, I chose to stay in tune with the banishing moon and I finished cleaning and energizing the packing room and locked the fresh, clean energy with tuning forks. I even borrowed my father’s vintage sweeper that sucks up anything ?including my long hair if I’m not careful! The packing room is the last place that a customer’s product resides, and with that in mind, I wanted the energy of that place to be as tranquil and positive as possible ?not too yin, not too yang. As no one lives in that room, I just work there, it is easy to keep out negative feelings of other people. However, to keep the energy of the room from going stale when I’m not in there I installed my old regulator clock so that the chimes could continue to assist in perpetuating the flow.

I’ve discovered that working with the small Chi (the energy of the room) and the big Chi (the energy of the entire house) can be done in stages just as the books say. I began with a massive overhaul of two rooms (that really needed it) and then worked outward, a bit here, a touch there. A room is never completely finished because our lives change, and as they do, we can work on cures and change in placement to encourage the flow of positive chi. As I finished the packing room, rather than use the lighter tuning forks, I chose the heavier ones and realized during my clearing that the tuning forks will be a great demonstration in the MindLight seminar to show the student just how strong your thoughts can vibrate and how they feel (to a point). The sound of bells or tuning forks can also help us to learn to hold our focus. Hold that thought as long as the tuning fork vibrates. Then, as the vibration dies away to the stillpoint ?release the thought ?fully, as if you were freeing a dove of peace ?gently.

Bumping the large, black trash bags down the stairs and out to the back porch the thought came to me that I’ve been slowly learning to integrate eastern and western magick into a synthesis that suits me. Energy is energy and that’s a fact. But, how that energy is used by various cultures provides a plethora of learning potential if we only slow down, smile, and catch the wave. Okay, so maybe we have to clean out junk and let go of a few crusty things?/SPAN>

That night I began working on a new tarot card spread. I didn’t finish it completely and enjoyed a private Autumn Equinox New Moon celebration the following day. As the first quarter moon entered Scorpio I was back at my desk, continuing to work on my East Meets West idea. I finished as the clock struck midnight.

I chose the name “MoonGate?as a synthesis of earth and heaven energy, as if the querent were looking through a gate, wishing to enter a garden of solution (or resolution) on any given issue. The reading isn’t really about past, present, or future ?but about what energy is strong or weak in the querent’s life, and how you can take steps to enhance those areas, which in turn will bring things into balance and solve, perhaps, an overall dilemma.

To choose departments, elements, and other information, I pulled from the Chinese Pa Kua ?a compass direction chart with a variety of correspondences associated with the human condition, often used in Feng Shui (the placement of items to capture the most auspicious energies). Therefore, some of the associations may seem a bit foreign to western magickal applications. For example, in this chart, North is associated not with earth, but with water.

In all, there are a total of twelve categories, beginning with card number one (Note: You can also use runes with this system) which indicates the querent, his or her problem, or question. The next eight categories contain the word “Luck? and the cards are laid out in a half circle. The use of the word luck came to me from sortilege (a Hoodoo way of working with cowry shells) ?in which the querent comes to the reader with either good or bad luck. The reader determines which type of luck is primarily operating in the querent’s life through the use of black and white stones before the reading commences. Here, each card in the eight categories (or departments) will show if the querent’s luck in that department is good or bad. A negative card in any of these areas indicates that you need to adjust your lifestyle, add protective energies, and choose to work on that area with a technique that is conducive to your belief system. This work can include prayers, affirmations, spells, meditation, Feng Shui placement, eating right, exercise, etc. The information doesn’t foretell the future, instead, it encourages contemplation of what might be changed to enjoy a better lifestyle.

The tenth card is what I call Earth Chi ?what the querent can do in a physical way to bring life into balance. If this card is negative, then the querent (again) needs to adjust his or her perception in regard to how he or she uses earth energy and behaves in physical situations. A positive card gives encouragement.

The eleventh card is what I call Heaven Chi ?what the querent can do in a spiritual, mental way to bring life into balance. If this card is negative, then the querent (again) needs to adjust his or her perception in regard to how he or she uses spirit/mental energy and behaves in spiritual situations. A positive card gives encouragement.

If both the Heaven and Earth Chi cards are positive, then the advice is combined to show the querent how to enter the MoonGate to capture the needed solution or resolution. If both are negative, the querent is advised to do a complete cleansing ritual (such as can be found in Hoodoo practices), take the advice to heart, and actively strive to change in order to capture future benefits.

The final card is the Solution/Resolution card, and closes out the reading.

Each department in the reading has several correspondences, including:

Department Name
Color associated with that type of energy.
Compass Direction
Element
Associated Shape

These correspondences will be helpful in doing magick, ritual, prayer, etc. to help turn bad luck into good.

This is all well and good, but now I had to put this spread into practice, and there is no better time than a Scorpio first quarter moon! With the chart set up in theory and drawn on my computer, the window of testing begins. I’ve included the illustration in this blog so that you can test it, too!
Note: The word querent means the person for whom you are reading the cards.
