Lola is a special little girl to me because she changed my life. When I adopted her I was at a lonely point in my life having just turned 36 years old and had never been married and had no children. One day I decided to look for a puppy to adopt and then I saw her. I will never forget that it was a Tuesday morning, and she was sent to me that same week on Friday.
I look back at all Lola has been through thus far in life. I adopted Lola from a rescue place out of Arkansas, which I later realized may have sent Lola directly from a puppy mill. Within the first six days of having her, we were at the vet almost every day because she was so ill. They told me that if they didn't keep her for a few days she just wouldn't make it. Lola was only two pounds when she arrived back in June. She had worms, a severe case of a stomach parasite and a respiratory infection. It took almost two months before she was finally over all the hurdles and I have to say that my life has been truly blessed with my precious little girl.
Lola is the love of our lives! She is such a loving soul... she loves people and loves other dogs too. She has about 50 toys and believe it or not finds time to play with all of them! She's also a jumper. I had to buy two baby gates in order to confine her to our kitchen because she was leaping over just the one. LOL My life has changed so much after adopting Lola and I thank God every day for blessing me with my little girl.
My favorite times with Lola is in the evening when she settles down for the night and curls up in that little ball on my lap... when she looks at me with those big, beautiful angelic eyes. That feeling of unconditional love when she looks at me is just indescribable. I think that if she could speak to me she would say, "Mami I love you and thank you for saving me." I tell her that every single day!
