You are all correct it was time for a change and you got it I hope for you he can deliver but the legacy of debt he is left with will make it hard.

Let him alone for 6mths arfter inauguration and then see what he has to say.  I do not think Bush is helping right now.

Good luck,

Selkie.

Planning to do something is not the same as doing something. GWB carried through a lot of actions, ableit not very popular ones. I'm not arguing for or against anybody or anything but to compare how many plans (or promises as the case may be) a president makes compared to another accomplishes absolutely nothing and is not an indicator of future performance.

I believe that is a copout used by both parties whenever there is a shift in bipartisan majority. Republicans claim 'we have to fix Clintons, Carters, Johnsons, problems.' while Democrats talk about fixing both Bushes and Fords mistakes.

In the 41 years I have been alive, we have been under democratic presidents for 12 years and republican presidents for 29 years. I think we can all agree that the US and the World is a better place than it was in 1967. Does that mean republicans do a better job than democrats? Quit trying to point fingers and I will sit here and watch. If great change comes, then that is great. If great change does not come, then it just means that the bipartisan system is doing exactly what George Washington feared it would do.

You just got done talking about cleaning up Bush's mess but you're not pointing at anyone??? People here keep talking about how great Obama is going to be and how bad Bush has been. It's funny because yall have already started to make excuses for ineffectual performance by stating how long it's going to take to fix stuff. The man hasn't even taken the oath and he has been granted a reprieve from any so called 'change'  by blaming the previous administration. But that's not pointing fingers???

I know there are a lot of people that are passionate about how bad GWB has been preceived to be but if people really want to talk about party affiliation and bad administration, then just look at James Buchanan (D) whose lack of any action whatsoever resulted in the worst war in US history, the Civil War. We weren't fighting terrorism, or radical Muslims, or ideologies, we were fighting ourselves over our own rules. How embarassing is that?

Stop blaming/bashing Bush/Republicans/Conservatives, or whatever and start holding ourselves responsible for any good or bad that may become of the country. No matter what anyone thinks, we as individual voters have decided upon the course of our nation through who we vote for or who we might allow to win by not voting.

The election is over. Obama is the next President. Let him prove himself.

No doubt that it's going to take some time to right some wrongs of the past administration.  However, this is sort of a "right of passage" for any new administration.  Remember, McCain was a Republican.  His plans were to come in with a huge reform idea as well.  This shouldn't be the righties did this or the lefties did that....we already know!   As a very staunch supporter of Obama.  I'm very pleased with the steps he has taken up to date.  He's already proven himself to me as being a very strong leader.  He did that just through his campaingn.  I've no doubt that his cabinet choices are probably the strongest selection ever seen in a presidency for many, many years.  Again, a very huge display of strength and leadership.  It's important to remember the message though.  Yes, Obama is going to need the Congress for support.  He will also need each and every American doing their part.  He's called upon all of us to watch our finances, spend and save wisely, maintain your transportation, strengthen family, take care of your health, get involved in your community, stay aware.  When was the last time anyone heard a President or President Elect call upon the cititzens to help make the little changes?

I challenge everyone here to find a cause to support.  Whether it's hunger, homelessness, environmental, wildlife...find one and support it.  Volunteer once a month...whatever, just do it.  Mow the old lady's yard, help a neighbor rake leaves, start a penny drive.  Just don't sit back and hold your breath and wait for other's to make the changes.  Pay attention to your elected leaders and their actions.  Hold them accountable.

So far, I am pleased with most of President-elect Obama's picks, with the possible exception of the head of Homeland Security.  I don't see the credentials, and from what I have read, she seems soft on illegal aliens.

It doesn't mean that she will not be an excellent pick, but it is something that concerns me.
